After nearly two decades of critical acclaim, standing ovations and extended engagements, Tony Award Nominee Sharon McNight's hit one woman show, "Red Hot Mama" based on the life, songs and humor of Sophie Tucker is on its final tour, with a stop at THE RRAZZ ROOM IN NEW HOPE (6426 Lower York Road, New Hope, PA - 888-596-1027) on Saturday & Sunday, July 5th & 6th at 8:00 pm. Audiences have thrilled to Sharon McNight as Sophie, many critics have proclaimed that she actually IS Sophie. Loide will perform at BLUES ALLEY(1073 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC - 202-337-4141) on Saturday, July 5th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Born in France, raised in California, and with roots in Mozambique and Guinea-Bissau, vocalist Loide serves up a mix of contemporary jazz and warm Afro-Luso (African-Portuguese) melodies and rhythms - an exquisite blend reflective of her own eclectic roots. Loide cites Sarah Vaughn, Cesaria Evora and Miriam Makeba as some of her greatest musical influences, but it is her Afro-Luso heritage that has provided her with a fresh musical perspective, a unique sound, and song in her native tongue, Portuguese. An attorney and advocate for immigrants by day, come nightfall Loide has been a professional vocalist for over a decade and counting. Call for cover/minimum information.

Brian Settles, a highly sought after saxophonist and composer from Washington, DC, will perform atBOHEMIAN CAVERNS(2001 Eleventh Street N.W., Washington, DC - 202-299-0800) on Friday & Saturday, July 4th & 5th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Equally in demand as a sideman and a leader, Brian has dedicated his life to the study and practice of music - first at the prestigious Duke Ellington School of the Arts, The New School University and most recently at Howard University. Settles has performed and recorded with groups led by Gil Scott - Heron, Reggie Workman, Jason Moran, Tomas Fujiwara, Tom Abbs and has played alongside such jazz greats as Stanley Turrentine, Shirley Horn and Milt Hinton. There is a $23 cover.
