CABARET TONIGHT IN TORONTO: OTIS GAYLE CD RELEASE EVENT AT JAZZ BISTRO
Vocalist, composer and Studio One Recording Artist, Otis Gayle will launch his latest recording, Love is a Thing at Toronto's premiere music venue, THE JAZZ BISTRO(251 Victoria Street, Toronto, ONT, CA - 416-363-5299) on Tuesday, September 10th at 9:00 pm. Otis was born in Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies, and began his musical career as a singer with "Byron Lee and the Dragonaires", with whom he performed internationally. He eventually settled in Canada in 1967. While Otis continued to perform as part of "The Dragonaires", he also recorded a series of solo hits, notably a popular cover version of "I'll Be Around" - a big seller by the (then named) "Detroit Spinners"' - later shortened to "The Spinners". As a soloist, Gayle continued to release a series of local hits in Jamaica, and in 1985 he was awarded the Juno Award for "Best Reggae Song" in the Best Reggae/Calypso Recording Category. There is a $15 cover.
