CABARET TONIGHT IN MD: CASSANDRA WILSON AT BETHESDA BLUES
Jazz-pop chanteuse Cassandra Wilson will perform at BETHESDA BLUES & JAZZ SUPPER CLUB (7719 Wisconsin Avenue, Bethesda, MD - 240-330-4500) on Friday & Saturday, September 20th & 21st at 8:00 pm. Cassandra Wilson is a world renowned vocalist, songwriter, and producer, with an extraordinary following. From the standards on Blue Skies to the Grammy-winning New Moon Daughter, and from the combination of originals and interpretations on both the Belly of the Sun (2001) and Glamoured (2003) to her more recent albums Thunderbird (2006) and Grammy-winning Loverly (2008), Wilson has always continued evolving as a vocalist, songwriter, and producer. Silver Pony, Wilson's most recent project and recipient of the 2011 Soul Train Award for Best Traditional Jazz Album, is the latest step in her evolution. It features a mix of jazz and pop classics as well as songs newly written by Wilson and her band. There is a $50 cover.
