TODAY IN NYC: MARILYN MAYE RETURNS TO THE METROPOLITAN ROOM
Marilyn Maye premieres "Her Own Kind of Broadway," highlighting the many recordings of Broadway songs she put on the charts for RCA Records at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) in a nine-show engagement. "Her Own Kind of Broadway" performs at the following times: Friday & Saturday, October 8th & 9th at 9:30 pm; Sunday, October 10th at 7:00 pm; and Tuesday through Sunday, October 12th through 17th at 7:00 pm. While under contract with RCA, Maye was the first to record Broadway songs such as "Cabaret," "Step to the Rear," "Sherry," "I'll Never Fall in Love Again" and other Broadway show songs, before the shows opened. During her long and varied career Maye has portrayed Mame (in "Mame"), Dolly (in "Hello, Dolly"), Sally (in "Follies"), Carlotta (in "Follies") and Pistache (in "Can Can"). There is a $30 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
