INDIANAPOLIS: MULTI-GRAMMY NOMINATED JAZZER AT THE CABARET

Jazz Artist Karrin Allyson will perform at THE CABARET AT THE COLUMBIA CLUB(121 Monument Circle, Indianapolis, IN - 317-275-1169) on Friday & Saturday, May 2nd & 3rd at 8:00 pm. After a dozen releases on Concord Jazz over the course of two decades, and three Grammy nominations for Best Jazz Vocal Album along the way, the versatile vocalist/ pianist still believes that the emotional connection that takes place in a small, quiet club during the late hours is one of the best parts of the jazz experience. Explore the warmth and depth of an artist who engages with a range of music from Gershwin and Porter to Duke and Thelonious. The evening will feature songs from Karrin's vast career as well as from her newest release, Round Midnight. A multiple Grammy nominee, Karrin Allyson lives in New York City, following a childhood in the Midwest, schooling in the Bay Area, a degree in classical piano performance and important stints in Minneapolis and Kansas City, where she began her recording career with Concord Jazz. Karrin currently spends two days out of three on tour, playing the major jazz festivals, concert venues and clubs of the U.S. and making repeated tours overseas to Brazil, Japan, Australia and the great cities of Europe. With thirteen albums to her name, Karrin is known as a great bandleader and one of the great pleasures of the current scene is listening to her highly developed interplay with her bandmates. There is a $25-$55 cover plus a $12 food/drink minimum.

CHICAGO: THANK YOU FOR THE MUSIC: MAHALIA, MCBROOM, MARCOVICCI ... AND MORE

Carol Weston, Arlene Armstrong, and Ruth Fuerst present 'Thank You for the Music: Mahalia, McBroom, Marcovicci ... and more' at DAVENPORT'S (1383 North Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago, IL - 773-278-1830) on Friday, May 2nd at 8:00 pm. The show is a celebration of the vocalists, lyricists, composers and family members who've been the trio's musical inspirations. With musical director Nick Sula, the songs will include Jazz Standards, Gospel, Broadway, Folk and Contemporary Cabaret. There is a $12 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

SAN FRANCISCO: JEREMY JORDAN AT FEINSTEIN'S

Star of stage and screen, Jeremy Jordan, will perform atFEINSTEIN'S AT THE NIKKO (222 Mason Street, San Francisco, CA - 866-663-1063) for four performances only - Thursday & Friday, May 1st & 2nd at 8:00 pm and Saturday & Sunday, May 3rd & 4th at 7:00 pm. Recounting iconic and deciding moments from his budding career, Jordan will perform the songs that have defined his swift rise to stardom. Selections include music from Broadway's Newsies, NBC's "Smash," and his upcoming film, "The Last 5 Years," along with many of his own personal favorites. Often hidden behind the guise of his characters, Jordan makes his solo concert debut exclusively at Feinstein's at the Nikko to tell us a bit of his own fascinating story. There is a $45-$60 cover plus a $20 food/drink minimum.

SAN FRANCISCO: MARSHA AMBROSIUS AT YOSHI'S

Singer/songwriter & revered platinum-selling R&B/Neo-Soul artist Marsha Ambrosius will perform at YOSHI'S (1330 Fillmore Street, San Francisco, CA - 415-655-5600) on Friday & Saturday, May 2nd & 3rd with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm in support of her new CD 'Friends & Lovers'. What is there not to say about "The Songstress?" Talented singer-songwriter, incredible live performer, revered platinum-selling artist, Grammy nominated and after over a decade in the music game, Marsha Ambrosius is still here.
