NYC: "BROADWAY SINGS THEIR FAVORITES" CELEBRATING THE TENTH SEASON OF BROADWAY ARTISTS ALLIANCE

Broadway ArtistsAlliance, a New York City-based musical theatre training program for ages 8-21, is proud to kick off their 10th season with a show atBIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) on Monday, April 28th at 7:00 pm. Performers will sing their all-time favorite show tunes, and will include instructors, alumni, and staff. Laura Benanti (Gypsy), Eden Espinosa (Wicked), Beth Leavel (The Drowsy Chaperone), Jenn Colella (If/Then), Andr•a Burns (In the Heights), Megan McGinnis (Les Miserables), Michelle Federer (Wicked), and David Ayers (Wicked) will be joined by BAA Alumni Liz Byrne (Baby It's You), Kyle Taylor Parker (Kinky Boots), Ruby Rakos (Billy Elliot), Bethany Tesarck (Bye Bye Birdie), and Clay Thomson (Matilda) for an evening of song and anecdotes. James Olmstead will serve as musical director with additional arrangements by Kelly Thomas. Proceeds from this event will benefit the BAA scholarship fund, which provides over $10,000 inscholarships each year. As with all live entertainment events, cast subject to change without notice. There is a $35 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.

NYC: JIM CARUSO'S "CAST PARTY" MONDAYS AT BIRDLANDFEATURED OPEN MIC EVENT

Every Monday night at 9:30 pm, Broadway impresario Jim Caruso hosts "Cast Party", a combination open-mic, networking event and party atBIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) during which the biggest stars on Broadway relax on their night off by performing their favorite songs in an informal setting. Cast Party is a mix of music, impromptu performance and cocktail party revelry, where showbiz superstars, stunning jazz talents and cabaret glitterati hit the stage alongside up-and-comers to serve up jaw-dropping music and general razzle-dazzle. It's the ultimate spot to mix and mingle with talented show folk and their fans. There is a $20 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.

NYC: JJ SANSAVERINO AT THE BLUE NOTE

Guitarist Joe "JJ" Sansaverino will perform at THE BLUE NOTE (131 West 3rd Street, NYC - 212-475-8592) on Monday, April 28th with shows at 8:00 & 10:30 pm. Over the past several years, JJ has reached millions with his music, touring the United States, Canada, Europe, Africa, Asia, the South Pacific, and the Caribbean. He has worked with the best in the business in a wide range of idioms, both live and in the studio, and has appeared on hundreds of recordings. An accomplished composer, arranger, and musical director, Sansaverino was playing trumpet and violin by age 11 and the guitar by age 13. Growing up in and around New York, his diverse influences - Santana, Hendrix, as well as jazz, Motown, and doo-wop - helped mold his unique style. After performing locally in NYC for several years in the early '90s, he embarked on his first European tour with the popular alternative rock band Heads Up. Upon returning to the U.S., he attended Berklee College of Music, graduating in 1994. Relocating to New York, he began performing nightly, quickly earning a reputation as one of the hardest-working musicians on the scene. It wasn't long before he started appearing and recording with artists like George Clinton, Kelly Price, SuperCat, Shabba Ranks, Monty Alexander, the Jungle Brothers, Rita & Ky-Mani Marley, and Toots and the Maytals, and recording TV jingles. He eventually settled in as the lead guitarist for Maxi Priest in 2000, immediately embarking on the first of several world tours. In 2005, he released a stunning collection of his original compositions titled Sunshine After Midnight. Together with his band Nu Jazz, he continues to perform while simultaneously preparing for the recording of his forthcoming sophomore album, Waiting for You. There is a $10-$15 cover.

NYC: MANHATTAN SCHOOL OF MUSIC AFRO-CUBAN ORCHESTRA AT DIZZY'S

The Manhattan School of Music Afro-Cuban Orchestra, conducted by Bobby Sanabria, will perform at DIZZY'S CLUB AT JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER (33 West 60th Street, NYC - 212-258-9595) on Monday, April 28th with shows at 7:30 & 9:30 pm. The Manhattan School of Music has long been a fixture in the New York music scene and prides itself as one of the first conservatories in the U.S. to acknowledge the prime importance of jazz as an art form. The popular Manhattan School of Music Afro-Cuban Orchestra is comprised of some of the most talented young musicians around. There is a $35 cover.
