LONDON: MATTHEW VANKAN AT THE CRAZY COQS
After two sell-out shows in 2014, Matthew vanKan returns to THE CRAZY COQS AT BRASSERIE ZEDEL (20 Sherwood St, Piccadilly, London W1F 7ED - 020 7734 4888 - ) on Friday & Saturday, April 3rd & 4th at 8:00 pm with a special Easter Weekend show, "Easter Parade: Vankan Celebrates The Swinging 50s." Expect a refreshing spin on timeless swing and jazz standards made famous by iconic entertainers of the 1950s such as Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole and Judy Garland. Matthew is accompanied by musical director and pianist Gabriel Mantell and Adam King on double-bass. Call for cover/minimum information.
LONDON: IAN SHAW LATE NIGHT AT THE CRAZY COQS
Ian Shaw celebrates the great singer-songwriters from Leiber & Stoller, the Beatles, Carol King and Joni Mitchell to Elton John, David Bowie and Amy Winehouse at THE CRAZY COQS AT BRASSERIE ZEDEL (20 Sherwood St, Piccadilly, London W1F 7ED - 020 7734 4888) on Friday, April 4th as part of the club's Late Night Jazz series. Described as one of the most distinctive, original and creative jazz singers on the scene, Shaw is also a talented pianist and songwriter. Twice voted 'Best Jazz Vocalist' at the BBC Jazz Awards, nominated for a JazzFM award and with more than a dozen albums to his name, he is much in demand as the featured soloist with big bands and orchestras both in the UK and internationally, as well as pairing with the likes of Guy Barker, Liane Carroll and Claire Martin. Britain's pre-eminent Beat poet, Michael Horovitz, and a host of special guests, celebrate everything worth celebrating at Easter and Passover, plus his own 80th birthday on Saturday & Sunday, April 4th & 5th at 8:30 pm at THE PHEASANTRY (152-154 King's Road, London SW3 4UT - 08456 027 017).
