NYC: JANE SCHECKTER AT CAFE NOCTAMBULO WITH BOBBY SHORT TRIBUTE - FINAL SHOW OF THIS SERIES

Jane Scheckter will bring a newly revised version of her tribute show "Jane Scheckter Loves Adores Misses Bobby Short" to CAFE NOCTAMBULO AT PANGEA (178 Second Avenue, NYC - 212-995-0900) on Thursdays April 2nd, 9th and 16th and 7:00 pm. Originally presented at 88s in 1996 as "Jane Scheckter Loves Adores Bobby Short", this show will mark the tenth anniversary of Bobby Short's passing. The program features many signature Bobby Short songs, as well as lesser-known works he performed during his remarkable career. Many of the arrangements are inspired by Short's charts and earned high praise from him when he came to see the show on opening night in 1996. He was inadvertently caught on Jane's performance tape, talking to the people at his table, telling them, "I adored it. It was adorable. It was a valentine to me". Jane will be supported by the trio of Tedd Firth, musical directo; Jay Leonhart on bass; and Peter Grant on percussion. The show is directed by Eric Michael Gillett. Jane is a Bistro Award winner for female vocalist and a five-time MAC award nominee. There is a $20 cover plus a $20 food/drink minimum.

NYC: TERRY REID & EDWARD ROGERS AT THE CUTTING ROOM

Terry Reid, (Superlungs as he's affectionately known), performs at THE CUTTING ROOM (44 East 32nd Street, NYC - 212-691-1900) on Thursday, April 16th at 7:30 pm. Reid is without doubt one of the greatest rock/ soul voices this country has ever produced or is indeed likely to. A Terry Reid concert should be a cherished memory for any self-respecting fan of the greats of British music. The legend is of turning down the front man's job with Led Zeppelin, recommending his mate Robert Plant instead, a similar offer and rebuff to Deep Purple; of Aretha Franklin's statement that The Beatles, Rolling Stones and Terry Reid were the best England had to offer in 1968, of two World Tours with The Rolling Stones, US tours with Cream, UK tours with Jethro Tull and Fleetwood Mac, The Isle of White Festival in 1969 and Glastonbury in 1970, playing at Mick Jagger's wedding, then soured record deals and leaving Britain for America nearly 40 years ago. All true, but the full story includes numerous collaborations with Graham Nash, who produced Reid's 1976 album Seed of Memory; covers of Reid songs by Marianne Faithfull, The Hollies, The Raconteurs (the hugely popular Rich Kid Blues), Cheap Trick and in 2012 Rumer included Brave Awakening on her album Boys Don't Cry. Reid songs have featured on film soundtracks, including a song in George Clooney's film Up In The Air and several tracks on Rob Zombie's The Devil's Rejects. There is a catalogue of 6 studio albums, including the seminal album The River, re-released to critical acclaim in 2014 (9/10 Uncut) and the 1976 Nash produced Seed of Memory (also available from BGO Records). He is joined by Edward Rogers. Born in Birmingham, England where he spent his first 12 years of his life, Rogers moved to New York City just as the British Invasion began in the States. He started his career behind the drum kit and played in several garage bands. When a subway accident in October 1985 left him without his right arm and right leg below the knee, he turned to songwriting and found he found singing and writing more rewarding than playing drums. Over the past decade, Rogers has been extremely prolific, releasing four solo albums (two of which were co-written with George Usher) as well as two with Bedsit Poets, which Rogers founded, a Folk/Brit-inspired trio whose name was given to them by The Zombies' Colin Blunstone. Rogers recently toured with The Zombies' Colin Blunstone on his first solo U.S. tour in over forty years and has also supported both Ian Hunter and John Ford tour dates Autumn, 2014. There is a $25 cover plus a $20 food/drink minimum.
