NYC: INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY CELEBRATION: WOMEN OF THE WORLD

THE BLUE NOTE (131 West 3rd Street, NYC - 212-475-8592) presents a special brunch by the vocal group, Women of the World to celebrate International Women's Day, on Sunday, March 8th at 11:30 am and 1:30 pm. Women of the World was formed to bring women musicians from across the globe onto a common platform to collaborate and create, not only through the sharing of music, but also to explore and celebrate the differences in ideologies, and cultural tenets that exist in the daily lives of women all over the world. Honoring global folk traditions, their repertoire spans music in 26 languages. In many ways, the ensemble is a microcosm of the world, with members working closely together, not just to create and perform music, but also learning about each other's countries, cultures, languages, beliefs and practices. 2014 American a cappella champions, nominees for the 2013 Boston Music Awards and 2014 Independent Music Awards, Women of the World has toured North America and Japan, having collaborated with many industry legends including Grammy-award winning vocalist, Bobby McFerrin and African vocal icon, Angelique Kidjo. Women of the World continues to serve as cultural ambassadors of peace and unity through music and has delighted audiences at venues like Carnegie Hall, Blue Note Jazz Club, Boston Symphony Hall, as well as through collaborations with the United Nations, amongst others. Creating the Harmonious Human Orchestra of Life, Women of the World has brought over 200 women from all over the world together to collaborate musically. There is a $35 cover **Price includes brunch, music and a drink.**

NYC: SUNDAY OPEN MIC AT THE MET - NOON TO 2:30 PM

Sunday Open Mic comes to THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on the 2nd & 4th Sundays each month from 12:00 noon to 2:30 pm (signup ay 11:30 am). Presented and hosted by Susan Winter and Deb Berman, the "OPEN MIC AT THE MET" is not your average Open Mic since it will be presented on the iconic stage, with amazing acoustics, high-end equipment, and experienced sound engineer to help create a concert-like experience in Metropolitan Room's friendly, warm environment. Each Open Mic offers different pianists to accompany your performance. There is a $15 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum. 

TORONTO: SUNDAY BRUNCH WITH PATRICK HEWAN
MARCH IS CABARET MONTH

Pianist, composer/ lyricist/ librettist/ comic Eli Pasic will perform at THE JAZZ BISTRO(251 Victoria Street, Toronto, ONT, CA - 416-363-5299) on Sundays in March from 12-noon to 3:00 pm as part of the clubs Sunday Brunch series. Patrick Hewan is a rising star in the Toronto Jazz scene whose energetic virtuosic playing captivates and moves his audiences. He draws on the vast vocabulary of the legendary jazz pianists who came before him and adds his own spirit and passion to create a unique sound and style. Drawing heavily on influences such as: Chick Corea, Keith Jarrett, Hiromi Uehara, Oscar Peterson, and Phineas Newborn while studying under the tutelage of legendary pianists such as Mark Eisenman, Brian Dickinson, Richard Whiteman, Robi Botos, and Hilario Duran it's no secret where Patrick developed his unique, high-octane style that still clearly adheres to the art forms tradition. Patrick began studying classical piano at the age of four and was later introduced to the saxophone where he developed a great love for jazz music. His education includes York University and Humber College and he is a recipient of the Berklee World Tour Scholarship for both sax and piano. There is a $5 cover.
