The Queen of Boogie Woogie comes to MARTINI'S ABOVE FOURTH (3940 4th Avenue, San Diego, CA - 619-400-4500 - ) on Tuesday, March 10th at 8:00 pm with swing/bluesmen Lex & Joe in an evening that'll raise the roof! Best known for her beehive-wearing stint with blues diva Candye Kane in the '90's, local favorite Sue Palmer has been making her mark in the last decade with her high energy band, the Motel Swing Orchestra, and her flashy boogie woogie stylings. Lex Romane, with his distinctive vocals, plays guitar, fusing the intense rhythmic drive of masters like Freddie Green with modern R&B feeling. Joe Riillo, a classically trained clarinetist, quickly discovered the enticements of R&B & Jazz. On saxophone, he developed a singular style influenced by artists ranging from King Curtis and Johnny Almond to Cannonball Adderley & Lester Young. On clarinet, he offers tribute to Pete Fountain, Jimmy Hamilton, & Eddie Daniels. Joe also plays flute. There is a $39 cover (includes dinner).

"A Little New Music" returns to ROCKWELL: TABLE & STAGE (1714 Vermont Avenue, Los Angeles, CA - 323-669-1550) on Tuesday, March 10th at 8:00 pm with a highly inventive program featuring Broadway and local talent. Returning as hostess and chanteuse is the spicy Jordan Kai Burnett (SEUSSICAL), joined by music director Bryan Blaskie (VICTORIAN COURTING AND ZOMBIES) and band. The evening will showcase songs by Emmy winner Doug Katsaros & Amanda Yesnowitz (B'way bound SOMEWHERE IN TIME); Brett Ryback (LIBERTY INN: THE MUSICAL); Tim Rosser and Charlie Sohne (RUN AWAY HOME); Zoe Sarnak (A LASTING IMPRESSION); Andrew Gerle (MEET JOHN DOE); Sam Salmond; Erik Przytulski (PRINCESSES); Brett Macias, Daniel Mate, Robert Tepper and Madeline Sunshine; Castle & Serrano; and Andy Cooper. Special guest writer, will be the multi-hyphenate artist, Brett Ryback (actor in MURDER FOR TWO) to premiere brand-new material.
