NYC: RUTH CARLIN RETURNS WITH ACCLAIMED JUDY COLLINS TRIBUTE
Singer/ songwriter Ruth Carlin reprises her acclaimed show 'A Light in the Window - Songs of Judy Collins' at DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) on Wednesday, March 11th at 7:00 pm. Musical director is Paul Greenwood, with Dick Sarpola on bass and John Redsecker on drums. Ms. Carlin, a participant in the BMI Musical Theater Workshop as a lyricist, is a relative newcomer to cabaret who has been critically lauded for her previous shows at the Laurie Beechman (Moon Song) and appearances the Duplex and Danny's Skylight Room. The show includes music from Collins' magnificent 50-year career spanning the decades of the free-loving and turbulent '60s through her embracing of the Great American Songbook and musical theater to become a contemporary favorite at Cafe Carlyle, the creme de la creme of New York society cabaret. Songs by Joni Mitchell, Stephen Sondheim, Randy Newman, Kurt Weill and others, as well as rarely performed original compositions by Collins herself - including "Secret Gardens" and "Since You've Asked" - will reveal multiple facets of this musical legend. There is an $18 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: GONE TOO SOON SERIES: NANCY LAMOTT TRIBUTE
The new METROPOLITAN ROOM cabaret series 'Gone Too Soon' continues at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Wednesday, March 11th at 7:00 pm with a tribute to the amazing Nancy Lamott. Award winning singer Lina Koutrakos hosts this amazing lineup of talent that includes Gabreille Stravelli, Marissa Mulder, Rick Jensen, William Blake and John Herrera. Yasuhiko Fukuoka musical directs the evening. There is a $22.50 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

FRAMINGHAM, MA: AMAZING THINGS OPEN MIC FEATURING EMILY BROWDER
Every second Wednesday of the month Leslie Holmes hosts an amazing Open Mic night at the AMAZING THINGS ARTS CENTER (160 Hollis Street, Framingham, MA - 508-405-2787), and each show features a special guest. On Wednesday, March 11th the featured guest will be Emily Browder. Pianist for both Emily and the open mic is Tom LaMark. Emily Browder Melville grew up singing with her dad at the piano. American song abounded on the stereo: Nancy Wilson, Sarah Vaughn, Dianne Reeves, Joni Mitchell, The Roches, Sweet Honey in the Rock, Judy Collins, Maureen McGovern. Chorus Line, Annie, The Fantasticks. Barry Manilow, Crosby, Stills, and Nash, James Taylor. Emily studied vocal performance at the Longy School of Music (M.M., 1998) and appeared in principle roles with Boston Academy of Music, Boston Modern Orchestra Project, and Opera Boston. In 2012, Emily starred in the new musical by Gail Phaneuf and Ernie Lijoy Monsters! The Musical. With the ESP Vocal Trio, Emily just released a close-harmony jazz CD, They All Laughed, arranged by Mark Shilansky and co-produced by Kim Nazarian of New York Voices. Emily loves her vocal roots in American song, and has been a featured contemporary singer with the Duxbury Music Festival. Emily is the chair of the voice department at South Shore Conservatory (SSC). She is a board-certified Music Therapist and Voice Movement Therapist. She lives in Plymouth with her husband, two step-kids, and baby daughter. The open-mic starts at 7:00 pm (signup at 6:30 pm), and the featured performers go on at 8:10 pm. There is an $10 cover charge ($9 cover for BACA members).
