NYC: CAROL SHEDLIN: CHILD OF THE '30S - ENCORE PERFORMANCES
Carol Shedlin celebrates her legacy as a Child of the '30s in her newest cabaret show at DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) with two encore performances of her " Child of the '30s" show on Tuesday, March 10th & Monday, March 16th, both at 7:00 pm. She is joined by musical director Jon Delfin at the piano and Boots Maleson on bass. Carol is thrilled to present her sophisticated evening of songs from the 1930s, filled with the romance of that black-and-white, cut-on-the-bias, Art Deco world of "Let's Pretend". Carol sings a collection of often offbeat and quirky (but always beguiling) period tunes, and entertains with her recollections about special moments from her somewhat eccentric, early childhood. Celebrating more than twenty years of "impeccable musical taste," Carol continues her tradition of creating cabaret evenings featuring an intriguing song list, mixing old favorites with lesser-known rarities. Eric Michael Gillett brings to life the Wit and Wisdom of Noel Coward in his new show at THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909), on Tuesday, March 10th at 7:30 pm. Musical Director is Rick Jensen with Matt Scharfglass on bass and Jonathan Kantor on reeds. The epitome of wit and sophistication, Sir Noel Coward's storied career spanned more than half a century. In Man About Town, award-winning cabaret artist Eric Michael Gillett focuses on the music and lyrics of the man known as the Master. After acclaimed evenings dedicated to Harold Arlen, Stephen Sondheim, Craig Carnelia, Lorenz Hart, and his revue in development, The Amanda McBroom Project, Man About Town allows Eric Michael to focus an entire evening on the wit and wisdom of one of the twentieth century's most admired and brilliant artists. From "What's Going to Happen to the Tots," "Don't Put Your Daughter on the Stage, Mrs. Worthington" and "Uncle Harry" to "Come the Wild, Wild Weather" and "London Pride," Man About Town explores the Noel Coward musical legacy in all of its considerable glory. Eric Michael Gillett is known as a director, an actor, a singer, and a teacher. He is the recipient of both the MAC Award for Outstanding Direction and the Dick Gallagher Award, bestowed by the Mabel Mercer Foundation, for his unique contributions to the art of cabaret.
