LONDON: JANIE DEE: DEE-LICIOUS, LIGHTFUL AND LOVELY!
The award winning and hugely popular actress, singer and musical theatre performer Janie Dee brings to the stage at THE CRAZY COQS AT BRASSERIE ZEDEL (20 Sherwood St, Piccadilly, London W1F 7ED - 020 7734 4888) her show DEE-LICIOUS, LIGHTFUL AND LOVELY! on Tuesday through Saturday, March 10th through 15th at 8:00 pm. The show is an eclectic mix of her favourite songs and stories, performed in a wide range of vocal styles including jazz, pop, ballad, Broadway and musical theatre. Janie is the winner of two Olivier Awards and The Evening Standard and Critics Circle Best Actress Award. Last year, she appeared in numerous stage shows, including the London premiere of Stephen Sondheim's "Putting It Together" and delighting audiences and critics in the acclaimed West End revival of Noel Coward's classic "Blithe Spirit" with the legendary actress Dame Angela Lansbury. Janie is currently playing Helene Hanff in "84 Charing Cross Road" at The Salisbury Playhouse. She will be accompanied by The Parker Boys - Alex Parker on piano and David Shaw-Parker on guitar. LONDON: HOLLY PENFIELD AT THE CRAZY COQS
Holly Penfield, a luminary on the London jazz cabaret scene for over fifteen years, makes her debut at THE CRAZY COQS AT BRASSERIE ZEDEL (20 Sherwood St, Piccadilly, London W1F 7ED - 020 7734 4888) on Saturday, March 14th at 10:30 pm with her show HERE'S TO LIFE as part of the club's Late Night Series. Holly will be performing jazz and classic cabaret standards alongside songs from her acclaimed Holly Penfield Sings the Judy Garland Songbook show. Holly will be joined by her musicians Alex Hutton on piano, Nick Kacel on double bass and Simon Lee on drums. Holly, a native of San Francisco, began singing at the age of 12, trained by the legendary vocal coach Judy Davis who coached Barbra Streisand, Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis, Jr. Call for cover/minimum information.
LONDON: SALENA JONES AND THE GEOFF EALES QUARTET AT THE PHEASANTRY
American jazz and cabaret singer Salena Jones will perform at THE PHEASANTRY (152-154 King's Road, London SW3 4UT - 08456 027 017) on Friday & Saturday, March 13th & 14th at 8:30 pm. She will be joined on stage by the Geoff Eales Quartet. Salena was born Joan Elizabeth Shaw in Newport News, Virginia, the same home town as Ella Fitzgerald. Jones said, "I loved Sarah Vaughan so much and adored Lena Horne's elegance; I put them together as 'Salena.' It looked good. And I kept Joan in 'Jones.'" And that's how Salena Jones was born."
