NYC: THE BREITHAUPT BROTHERS & FRIENDS AT BIRDLAND
The Broadway at Birdland concert series is proud to announce the Birdland debut of the award-winning songwriting team Don and Jeff Breithaupt (The Breithaupt Brothers ) at BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) on Monday, March 2nd, at 7:00 pm.The evening will feature over a dozen guest singers sampling the brothers' songs, highlighting not only the recent Alma Records release, Just Passing Through: The Breithaupt Brothers Songbook Vol. II, but also four songs from the their York Theatre-developed, NYMF-produced "boxing musical comedy," Seeing Stars (written with book writer Shelley McPherson). The selections from Just Passing Through will tap the jazz and cabaret worlds and feature Catherine Russell, Peter Eldridge (New York Voices), Marissa Mulder, Carolyn Leonhart (Steely Dan), Heather Bambrick, J'Sun (The Voice), Shelley McPherson, Jamie Leonhart, and Laila Bial, while the ensemble for the Seeing Stars mini-set will include musical theater vets Matthew Saldivar (Honeymoon in Vegas), Nancy Anderson, Chris Sullivan (The Knick), Michael Halling, Drew Humphrey, and Todd Gearhart (Mama Mia!). The Breithaupt Brothers have twice been short-listed for the "Fred Ebb Award for Musical Theatre Songwriting" and twice won First Place in the Jazz category of the USA Songwriting Competition. There is a $25 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
NYC: JIM CARUSO'S "CAST PARTY" MONDAYS AT BIRDLANDFEATURED OPEN MIC EVENT
Every Monday night at 9:30 pm, Broadway impresario Jim Caruso hosts "Cast Party", a combination open-mic, networking event and party at BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) during which the biggest stars on Broadway relax on their night off by performing their favorite songs in an informal setting. Cast Party is a mix of music, impromptu performance and cocktail party revelry, where showbiz superstars, stunning jazz talents and cabaret glitterati hit the stage alongside up-and-comers to serve up jaw-dropping music and general razzle-dazzle. It's the ultimate spot to mix and mingle with talented show folk and their fans. There is a $20 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.
