NYC: JAY ROGERS & AARON MORISHITA: "DUETS: TUNES & SNAPPY PATTER"
Newlyweds Jay Rogers and Aaron Morishita are happy to reprise their musical entertainment, "Duets: tunes & snappy patter" at the THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) for one night only on Wednesday, March 4th at 7:00 pm. Appearing with Bobby Peaco at the piano, Jay and Aaron will present a rousing selection of songs that were made famous by other people who sang together. Included are tributes to some of the boys' favorite duos - from The Girls of the Golden West (Millie and Dolly) to Steve and Eydie to The Peanuts (the twin teeny tiny singers who call Mothra) - as well some of the most infamous theater duets of all time. Join MAC- and Bistro Award winners Jay Rogers and Aaron Morishita as they see how far they can stretch the limits of appropriateness. There is a $22.50 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
NYC: POST-COLLEGIATE SHOCK SYNDROME: AN EVENING OF ORIGINAL PARODIES
Erin Oechsel presents 'Post-Collegiate Shock Syndrome: An Evening of Original Parodies' at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Wednesday, March 4th at 9:00 pm. This is her METROPOLITAN ROOM debut. The show is written and performed by Erin Oechsel and also features Chris, Alex & Taylor Oechsel, and is accompanied by Jonathon Lynch. Adjusting to adult life after college can be a struggle. Adjusting to life after college as a starving artist can be even worse. Commiserate with Erin as she embarks on the tumultuous road to adulthood with original musical parodies in styles ranging from musical theatre to pop, rock and country. After performing "Post-Collegiate Shock Syndrome" successfully several times in Chicago, she decided to take the show on the road! She recently finished Alan Souza's Camelot at Drury Lane Oakbrook. Other credits include: The Wheel (Steppenwolf Theatre), Les Miserables, Sleeping Beauty (Drury Lane Theatre), My Fair Lady (Actors Theatre of Indiana) and Life Could Be a Dream, Spitfire Grill (Farmers Alley Theater). She graduated from Ball State University and holds a BFA in Musical Theatre. There is an $18 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
NYC: BEN RIMALOWER DEBUTS NEW PLAY "BAD WITH MONEY"
Ben Rimalower returns with his new play "Bad With Money" to THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438) running on Wednesdays at 9:30 pm. Ben Rimalower's addiction to spending beyond his means has driven him to extreme lengths all his life. In BAD WITH MONEY he charts his sometimes hilarious, sometimes harrowing struggle to overcome his problem - or get rich trying. "Bad With Money" is written and performed by Ben Rimalower and directed by Aaron Mark. Rimalower's first solo show, the long-running hit Patti Issues, explored his obsession with Broadway diva Patti LuPone and his relationship with his troubled gay father. Bad with Money delves into even deeper personal territory with the story of his struggle with debt - a journey that takes him through drug addiction, prostitution, fraud and multiple betrayals. There is a $25-$50 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
NYC: DAVID MICHAEL FINKELSTEIN'S BAR MITZVAH
54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) presents an all original new musical comedy, 'David Michael Finkelstein's Bar Mitzvah' on Wednesday, March 4th at 7:00 pm. Ruth, the matriarch of the bunch is the overbearing Jewish mother, butting into everyone's business - especially her daughter Sarah. Poor Sarah is just trying to make it through the event without one more person commenting on why she's not married yet. And father Irv rounds out the trio as he pretends he can't hear a word of what his wife is saying. Along comes Cousin Barry and his "girlfriend" Gina, a beautiful Italian manicurist, which of course leaves everyone confused because they all thought that Barry was gay! And then there's Matthew, the mystery man ... who's also, a doctor! After two successful runs in New Jersey (The Warehouse and The Forum Theatre) the crazy relatives are here and ready to talk behind your back. Sue Fabisch is the author of Motherhood the Musical which has played to sold-out houses around the US as well as in Scotland and in a two-year tour around Australia. She is the writer (book, music and lyrics) of David Michael Finkelstein's Bar Mitzvah. With Julie Waldman-Stiel (Cats, Fiddler on the Roof), Paul Whelihan (The Flame Keeper, Fiddler on the Roof), Joseph Spiotta (On the Town, Hairspray), Alicia Cordero (In the Heights), Arnaldo Ortiz (In the Heights, Children of Fatima), Cindy Summers (I Love You, You're Perfect Now Change; Nine) and Music Direction by Deborah Martin (New Jersey Shakespeare Festival). There is a $25-$70 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.
NYC: THE SONGS OF JOE KINOSIAN & KELLEN BLAIR
Some of the best musical theater composers and writers in the biz will perform the songs of Kinosian & Blair (Murder For Two) at 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Wednesday, March 4th at 9:30 pm. Kinosian & Blair are the recipients of a Joseph Jefferson Award, a Drama Desk Award nomination, and the ASCAP Foundation's Mary Rodgers/Lorenz Hart Award. The show features performances by: Jill Abramovitz, Jeff Blumenkrantz, John Bucchino, Kait Kerrigan, Pete Mills, Patricia Noonan, Adam Overett, Alexander Sage Oyen, Benjamin Scheuer, Alan Schmuckler, Charlie Sohne, Sarah Ziegler and more to be announced.
