NYC: JENN COLELLA & NINA STOREY AT BIRDLAND

Nina Storey brings her fiery retro-soul vocals to BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) on Monday, February 2nd at 7:00 pm. She is joined by Jenn Colella, one of the dazzling stars of Broadway's If/Then. Colella is currently starring as Anne on Broadway in If/Then with Idina Menzel. She attended Columbia College in her home state of South Carolina and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech and Drama. During her undergraduate years she accrued a number of professional acting credits as a company member of Trustus Theater. Later she journeyed to California on scholarship as a Chancellor's fellow and earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in Acting from the University of California, Irvine. After graduate school, she remained in Los Angeles and pursued a career in standup comedy. She was a regular at The Comedy Store and at The Laugh Factory in Hollywoood. Colella's first starring role on Broadway was in 2003, as Sissy in Urban Cowboy. Her performance earned her an Outer Critics Circle Award nomination. Other starring roles on Broadway include Laura in High Fidelity (opposite Will Chase), Hedda Hopper in Chaplin (opposite Rob McClure), and she is currently starring in IF/THEN at the Richard Rodgers Theatre (opposite LaChanze & Idina Menzel). Her Off-Broadway credits include SLUT, THE MUSICAL (opposite Andy Karl), DON'T QUIT YOUR NIGHT JOB, BEEBO BRINKER CHRONICLES (opposite Marin Ireland), LUCKY GUY (opposite Kyle Dean Massey) and the acclaimed revival of Maltby and Shire's CLOSER THAN EVER. In television, Jenn has had guest starring roles on Cashmere Mafia (ABC), Rescue Me (FX), Can You Tell (Oxygen), All My Children (ABC) and The Good Wife (CBS). She starred opposite Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the indie crime drama thriller film "Uncertainty" (IFC Films). On her latest album, "Think Twice," Nina Storey doesn't hold anything back. The soulful and sexy Los Angeles-via-Colorado chanteuse delivers honest and hypnotic songs steeped in classic soul-pop. Elegantly stripped, Nina is as powerful as she is provocative. Produced by Chris Seefried [Counting Crows,Fitz and the Tantrums, Jay Nash, Haley Reinhart], the record has, in Storey's own words, "the sensibility of an old-school soul record from the likes of Eartha Kitt, Diana Ross, and the Ronettes with a modern, Bruno Mars pop edge." Storey has sold over 35,000 albums independently, and financed "Think Twice" entirely from the support of fans. She has headlined the Montreal Jazz Festival, New Orleans' Jazz Fest, Monterey Blues Festival, Red Rocks Amphitheatre, and the Boulder Arts Fest. She sang the National Anthem for The Chicago Bulls, the Denver Broncos, and the Colorado Rockies. She has performed alongside such artists as: Keb'Mo', Etta James, Sara Bareilles, Reeve Carney, Sarah McLachlan, Jamie Cullum, and DeVotchKa. Nina has graced the front page of the Denver Post & Colorado Daily, and the cover of New Times Magazine, Good Times Magazine and Denver's 5280 Magazine. She's been featured on CNN, ShowbizToday, MTV Online and RollingStone.com. There is a $25 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.
