Seth Rudetsky's BROADWAY CHATTERBOX returns to DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) on Thursdays at 5:00 pm. This week's show has has as Special Guest Star: TBA. Seth's weekly interview show always features stars, soon-to-be stars and folks behind the scenes of the musical theater stage - for just a $10 cover - 2-drink minimum. Best of all, all proceeds from the cover go to BROADWAY CARES/EQUITY FIGHTS AIDS!
NYC: STACEY MERWIN AT THE METROPOLITAN ROOM
Stacey Merwin returns to THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Thursday, February 5th at 7:00 pm. Armed with suitcases and a dream, Stacey Merwin left her hometown of Houston, TX to attend New York University, where she received a Masters Degree in Voice. Since graduating in 2008, Stacey has appeared in musicals, workshops and original works across the country. When she was cast in Prather Entertainment's production of RENT, Stacey knew that the pop/rock style of music was her calling. Now, she focuses on developing her own shows in and around New York City. She produced a benefit concert to raise money for Broadway Impact, a grassroots organization in support of Marriage Equality. Stacey made her Metropolitan Room debut with multi-talented songwriter and composer Jeff Franzel, who has also collaborated with such incredible artists as Josh Groban, Placido Domingo, Clay Aiken, 'N Sync, and Chuck Wicks. There is a $30 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
NYC: MELANIE GOERLITZ & THE BIANCO MARTINIS
The Bianco Martinis, a NYC based gypsy jazz band, performs at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Thursday, February 5th at 9:30 pm. Their shows cover all four corners of the world. Whether it's from South America to Italy, New York to Paris, The Bianco Martinis masterfully blend these sounds into a unique style of a true gypsy. Their music can be best listened to accompanied by their signature drink, "The Bianco Martini" on a crisp evening in New York or Paris, Buenos Aires or Rome. Melanie Goerlitz will start out the evening in a classic cabaret style, and then bring on The Bianco Martinis for a delightful set of gypsy jazz. The Metropolitan Room will be serving The Bianco Martinis signature drink, and as always with The Bianco Martinis, the last sip is the sweetest. Melanie is a lyric soprano based out of New York City. She recently made her European debut in a concert tour throughout Poland. This concert highlighted the works of contemporary and traditional musical theater, and she was accompanied by a full symphony orchestra. Additionally, she just recorded her first album, "Broadway After Midnight" to be released in Poland in March 2012. Melanie is also made her Carnegie Hall debut in past December 2011. She recently joined the New York Choral Society which has led to other similar endeavors, with Carnegie Hall being a major highlight. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
NYC: BEN RIMALOWER DEBUTS NEW PLAY "BAD WITH MONEY"
Ben Rimalower returns with his new play "Bad With Money" to THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438) running on Wednesdays at 9:30 pm. Ben Rimalower's addiction to spending beyond his means has driven him to extreme lengths all his life. In BAD WITH MONEY he charts his sometimes hilarious, sometimes harrowing struggle to overcome his problem - or get rich trying. "Bad With Money" is written and performed by Ben Rimalower and directed by Aaron Mark. Rimalower's first solo show, the long-running hit Patti Issues, explored his obsession with Broadway diva Patti LuPone and his relationship with his troubled gay father. Bad with Money delves into even deeper personal territory with the story of his struggle with debt - a journey that takes him through drug addiction, prostitution, fraud and multiple betrayals. There is a $25-$50 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
NYC: BROADWAY SESSIONS THURSDAYS AT THE LAURIE BEECHMAN
Every Thursday night, as the curtains fall on Broadway, Host Ben Cameron (from Broadway's Wicked, Aida and Footloose) and his crew of amazingly talented folks welcome a new Broadway star to perform at THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) at 10:30 pm in this fun and zany musical theater variety show. Get up close and personal with Broadway's brightest as the stars bare their souls, interact with the crowd and celebrate all things BROADWAY. There is a $5 cover plus a $20 food/drink minimum.
NYC: MARIN MAZZIE AT 54 BELOW
Three-time Tony Award Nominee Marin Mazzie will perform at 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Wednesday through Saturday, February 4th through 7th at 7:00 pm. She remembered for her recent show-stopping turn in Bullets Over Broadway, her corseted characters in Ragtime and Passion or maybe from the scene-chewing screwballs of Kiss Me Kate and Spamalot or possibly as the star of Next To Normal) Come see and hear the real Marin Mazzie as she steps back into her formative years with an evening of fun and fantasy as we get inside the head of a Midwest girl and the music she loved. There is a $50-$110 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.
