NYC: OUR TIME: KT SULLIVAN & JEFF HARNAR SING SONDHEIM
Hear the songs of Sondheim like you've never heard before, as two of the world's most acclaimed cabaret artists, KT Sullivan (Broadway: The Threepenny Opera, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes; Cabaret: Carnegie Hall, Town Hall, the Oak Room at the Algonquin, The Kennedy Center, The Crazy Coqs in London and many more) and Jeff Harnar (Cabaret venues across the world including Carnegie Hall, and winner of the 2012 Noel Coward Foundation Cabaret Award) present 'Our Time' at 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Wednesdays, January 7th & 14th at 7:00 pm. Classics like "Send in the Clowns," "Losing My Mind," "Being Alive," and "Pretty Women" are bent and woven together in a way that will open your eyes to their relevance within contemporary and current issues. NYC: BEN RIMALOWER "BAD WITH MONEY"
Ben Rimalower returns with his play "Bad With Money" to THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438) running on Wednesdays at 7:00 pm. Ben Rimalower's addiction to spending beyond his means has driven him to extreme lengths all his life. In BAD WITH MONEY he charts his sometimes hilarious, sometimes harrowing struggle to overcome his problem - or get rich trying. "Bad With Money" is written and performed by Ben Rimalower and directed by Aaron Mark. Rimalower's first solo show, the long-running hit Patti Issues, explored his obsession with Broadway diva Patti LuPone and his relationship with his troubled gay father. Bad with Money delves into even deeper personal territory with the story of his struggle with debt - a journey that takes him through drug addiction, prostitution, fraud and multiple betrayals. There is a $25-$50 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
NYC: RON MESA: BACK AT THE BEECHMAN
Singer/ songwriter Ron Mesa returns to THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) on Wednesday, June 4th at 7:00 pm. He will perform a mix of new original songs and Oscar nominated songs from films through the years. Ron is a singer/ songwriter living New York. He's been writing songs for 20 years. There is a $5 cover plus a $20 food/drink minimum.
NYC: ROB DAVIS BENEFIT CABARET, "YOU'RE THE ONE!"
Rob Davis Benefit Cabaret, "You're the One!" will be held at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Wednesday, January 14th at 7:00 pm. "You're the One!" is a show of original & traditional great Cabaret songs; Featured Artists - Marissa Mulder and Minda Larsen; Musical Direction by Daryl Kojak. Proceeds are for the benefit of Sunrise Association: whose mission is to bring back the joys of childhood to children with cancer and their siblings world-wide, through the creation of Sunrise Day Camps, Year-Round Programs and In-Hospital Recreational Activities, all offered free of charge; and for Empowering Development Alternatives: which ffers secondary education to orphans and vulnerable children in rural Uganda. EDA's mission is to break the cycle of poverty in Uganda through education, and to empower young boys and girls to reach their full potential. NYC: CHEYENNE JACKSON "EYES WIDE OPEN" AT THE CAFE CARLYLE
THE CAFE CARLYLE (35 East 76th Street, NYC - 212-744-1600) presents film/ TV /Broadway star Cheyenne Jackson with his show "Eyes Wide Open" on Tuesdays through Saturdays, January 13th through 24th at 8:45 pm with an additional late show added on Saturdays at 10:45 pm. Jackson take an honest and entertaining look at the past two years of his life - a period that Jackson describes as a journey of "loss, love, revelation and recovery." There is a $45-$125 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.
