L.A.: ANNIE REINER AT THE GARDENIA ONE NIGHT ONLY
Annie Reiner, the multi-talented daughter of Carl and Estelle, will perform at THE GARDENIA (7066 Santa Monica Boulevard, West Hollywood, CA - 323-467-7444) on Saturday, January 17th at 9:00 pm. Annie has inherited Estelle's brilliant timing, musicianship, and way with a lyric, and has been persuaded to share these gifts in all-too-rare solo shows at The Gardenia, to which are always greeted with much anticipation. This show will be Annie's seventh such outing, as ever backed by a complement of superb musicians. Those who loved Estelle and her musical sensibilities have been delighted to discover how securely that torch has been passed. Call for cover/minimum information.
SAN FRANCISCO: VONDA SHEPARD AT FEINSTEIN'S
Vonda Shepard, a star of screen (TV's Ally McBeal) and stage - the recent New York revival of Randy Newman's Faust, starring Randy Newman, for which she garnered rave reviews, will perform at FEINSTEIN'S AT THE NIKKO (222 Mason Street, San Francisco, CA - 866-663-1063) on Friday & Saturday, January 16th & 17th at 8:00 pm. Vonda has sold over twelve million albums and has won two Golden Globes, two Emmy Awards and two Screen Actor's Guild awards, and is about to embark on a KickStarter campaign to fund her 14th album, to be released early summer, 2015. Vonda has played keyboards and sung with Rickie Lee Jones, Al Jarreau and Jackson Browne, and while on Ally McBeal was the "behind the scenes" music producer, producing over 500 songs for the artists; Sting, Robert Downey Jr., Jon Bon Jovi, Al Green, Gladys Knight, Chubby Checker, Randy Newman, Barry Manilou, and many more. There is a $35-$50 cover plus a $20 food/drink minimum.
