LOS ANGELES: JODY JARESS AT THE GARDENIA
Jody Jaress will perform on Friday, January 16th at 9:00 pm at THE GARDENIA (7066 Santa Monica Boulevard, West Hollywood, CA - 323-467-7444). Jaress has made hundreds of appearances on stage, film, and television, along the way garnering Best Actress Awards for her theatrical roles in Veronica's Room, Equus, and The Gingerbread Lady. She has had roles in the films Charlie Wilson's War, Hollywoodland, and Chinaman's Chance, and in the new indie film Chain Link, which was accorded "Best Picture" designation at the Monaco Film Festival. As a singer and dancer at the Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas, she has opened for some of the great headliners of all time, including Harry Belafonte, The Ink Spots, Louis Armstrong, Tommy Dorsey, Dinah Shore, and Melissa Manchester. After years of touring with the USO, she was awarded the prestigious USO pin for those years of service and dedication to our armed forces. Her sultry charisma combines with a keen jazz sense to produce a sophisticated cabaret show for grownups, and she has fast become a Gardenia favorite. Call for cover/minimum information.
Vonda Shepard, a star of screen (TV's Ally McBeal) and stage - the recent New York revival of Randy Newman's Faust, starring Randy Newman, for which she garnered rave reviews, will perform at FEINSTEIN'S AT THE NIKKO (222 Mason Street, San Francisco, CA - 866-663-1063) on Friday & Saturday, January 16th & 17th at 8:00 pm. Vonda has sold over twelve million albums and has won two Golden Globes, two Emmy Awards and two Screen Actor's Guild awards, and is about to embark on a KickStarter campaign to fund her 14th album, to be released early summer, 2015. Vonda has played keyboards and sung with Rickie Lee Jones, Al Jarreau and Jackson Browne, and while on Ally McBeal was the "behind the scenes" music producer, producing over 500 songs for the artists; Sting, Robert Downey Jr., Jon Bon Jovi, Al Green, Gladys Knight, Chubby Checker, Randy Newman, Barry Manilou, and many more. There is a $35-$50 cover plus a $20 food/drink minimum.
