SAN DIEGO, CA: MICHAEL HOLMES AT MARTINIS ABOVE FOURTH

The spirit of Judy Garland is alive and well and coming to MARTINI'S ABOVE FOURTH (3940 Fourth Avenue, Suite 200, San Diego, CA - 619-400-4500) via Michael Holmes, on Wednesday, January 15th at 8:00 pm. This blend of hysterical comedy and outstanding music explode into an evening of nonstop belly laughs, glamour and high camp, as celebrated entertainer Michael Holmes parodies Judy Garland who, in her 1964 television variety show, played host to some of the greatest female icons of the Golden Age of Hollywood. With a killer wardrobe and razor-sharp wit, Holmes plays and nails them all, singing your favorite songs and thrilling the audience with charm, zingers and stories. There is a $15 cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum.

LOS ANGELES: STEVE BROCK AT THE GARDENIA

THE GARDENIA (7066 Santa Monica Boulevard, West Hollywood, CA - 323-467-7444) announces the return engagement of locally well-known singer/ songwriter Steve Brock on Wednesday, January 14th at 9:00 pm. Steve Rawlins is musical director. Although Brock's voice has been compared to Kurt Reichenbach, Kurt Elling, and Michael Franks, he counts James Taylor, Carole King, Billy Joel, Elton John, Mel Torme, and Harry Connick, Jr. among his musical influences. He also possesses a special affection for bossa nova and the sounds of Brazil. His CD, Cry By the Light of the Moon, contains inventive arrangements of classic and modern standards as well as his own original songs created over the years, with lyrics that continue the traditions of the great story-teller songwriters like Harry Chapin and James Taylor, including his very first song: "Tell Me That I'm a Fool," written while he was still in high school. SAN FRANCISCO: FRANC D'AMBROSIO - THE PHANTOM UNMASKED

FEINSTEIN'S AT THE NIKKO (222 Mason Street, San Francisco, CA - 866-663-1063) welcomes the return of Broadway veteran Franc D'Ambrosio with his acclaimed show, Franc d'Ambrosio - The Phantom Unmasked, for one performance only on Wednesday, January 14th at 7:00 pm. Featuring favorite selections from Franc's three solos shows, The Phantom Unmasked will be an unforgettable evening of music and story-telling. Franc D'Ambrosio is best known as the "Phantom" in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Tony Award winning Musical, The Phantom Of The Opera. Affectionately known as "The Iron Man of The Mask", he was awarded the distinction as the "World's Longest Running Phantom" with over 2,300 performances of the lead role, a title he held for a decade. D'Ambrosio has joined the ranks of the famed Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman as only a handful of Phantom alumni to successfully crossover to solo careers. He is celebrating 10 years of continuous touring. D'Ambrosio's resume also includes an Academy Award Nominated film, an Emmy Award Nominated television show, four-time Tony nominated Broadway show, Two Grammy Considerations, and a National Theatre Award Nomination. D'Ambrosio's passion for teaching his craft to young artists leads to Italy each summer as part of the Lorenzo Malfatti Accademia Vocale di Lucca. He has lectured for the University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music (at their famed Spoletto/Italy). He also works with the Cherubini Music Conservatory in Florence Italy and American University in Washington DC. D'Ambrosio also participates in numerous lecture series for such prestigious institutions as the New Conservatory Theater in San Francisco, the famed Julliard School NYC and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City. While touring the country, D'Ambrosio makes himself available to local school outreach programs across the US and Europe. He offers both lecture and master class formats. There is a $25-$40 cover plus a $20 food/drink minimum.
