THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) has been presenting a series of events under the banner of "This is Your Night!". On Monday, September 8th at 7:00 pm they will be honoring Kitty Skrobela. Kitty is an amazing woman who (along with her late husband Paul) has been a supporter of the art of cabaret and the performers of cabaret for many years. Several years ago they formed MIRANDA MUSIC which supports cabaret performers in developing and creating CDs, to be released under the MIRANDA MUSIC label. Unlike other "cabaret" labels, MIRANDA is involved from start to finish (not merely slapping their label on a CD that has already been created). FEATURED PERFORMERS AND/OR SPEAKERS: John Hoglund, Sean Harkness, Karen Oberlin, Jason Morris, Ian Herman, Richard Barone, Bill Zeffiro, Christopher Gines, Julie Reyburn, Marissa Mulder, Lauren Fox, Marcus Simeone, Michael Ferreri, Tanya Holt, Sue Matsuki, Tracy Stark, Tedd Firth, Gary Crawford, Johnna Murray, John Bucchino and Benjamin Niemczyk. NYC: RUTHLESS! THE MUSICAL WITH SOPHIA ANNE CARUSO

'Ruthless! The Musical' starring Sophia Anne Caruso, will be presented atSTAGE 72 (158 West 72nd Street, NYC - 212-362-2590) will open on Friday, September 5th and will play on Fridays, Saturdays & Mondays at 7:00 pm through September 22nd. Like the role she will be playing in a new production of "Ruthless!," the cult-hit musical, Sophia Anne Caruso is a young actress who will do anything to get the part. The triple threat tween will follow in the tap shoes of Laura Bell Bundy ("Hairspray," "Legally Blonde") Britney Spears and Natalie Portman. Before they became stars, all three young actors were cast as the diabolically talented Tina Denmark. Sophia tracked down the creators of the show while they were trying out rewrites for a new Connecticut production, writing to tell them that after having been cast as Tina in regional theatre, one of the principle actors suffered a fatal heart attack during the dress rehearsal. The show never opened. An audition was arranged and the rest is going to be history! Caruso, who appeared with Bernadette Peters in the NBC musical series Smash, will be taking the stage this September in an intimate staged concert production of the award-winning musical that will benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Joining Ms. Caruso on stage will be composer, Marvin Laird, who will step into the high heels of the infamous theatrical dame of mystery, Sylvia St. Croix. Because the project is benefiting a cause so close to their hearts, the co-creators want to make this outing particularly memorable, and so for 3 of the 9 performances, Paley will join Laird on stage, reprising his performance as the demented eight-year-old diva. Other cast members include, Kim Maresca as Judy Denmark, Katie Sparer as Miss Thorn/Emily Block, Delaney Arizala as Louise Lerman/Eve•and Rita McKenzie as Lita Encore. There is a $35-$45 cover plus a 2-drink minimum. A portion of the proceeds will go to BROADWAY CARES/EQUITY FIGHTS AIDS (http://www.bcefa.org/ ) To get tickets, go tohttp://ruthlessthemusical.brownpapertickets.com
