LONDON: LUCY DIXON AND HOWARD SAMUELS AT THE CRAZY COQS

Lucy Dixon (Cats, Follies, Metropolis, Stomp, and an ex Bluebell showgirl) and Howard Samuels (The Rocky Horror Show, Tonight's the Night, A Catered Affair) and soon to be heard as the voice of Jack the Ripper in the upcoming animation film from Luc Besson, Jack and the Cuckoo-Clock Heart, will perform atTHE CRAZY COQS AT BRASSERIE ZEDEL (20 Sherwood St, Piccadilly, London W1F 7ED - 020 7734 4888) on Monday, July 7th at 8:00 pm. The pair first met in the Sondheim musical Company, worked together again in the National Theatre's production of Frogs and then worked with director Linda Marlowe on the highly acclaimed original production of Invade my Privacy. Tonight they reunite to bring an entirely new collection of material by the genius that is Fran Landesman. Once again directed by Linda Marlowe and backed by the glorious piano playing of Dave Gordon, who combines a career as a classical musician with that of a brilliant improvising keyboard artist and composer and has, amongst other achievements, some 20 CD's to his credit - this promises to be a night to remember. Fran Landesman was a beat poet, songwriter and lifelong bohemian until her death in July 2011. She occupies the ironic territory between Dorothy Parker and Stephen Sondheim. Her frank, funky piercing insights into family affairs, tangled romances and ultimate issues take no prisoners. Her work combines pathos and humour and glows with the tough wisdom gleaned from a lifetime of riding in fast convertibles and hanging out in smoky bars. Call for cover/minimum information.
