LONDON: MARI WILSON AT THE CRAZY COQS
"The Neasden Queen of Soul' Mari Wilson will perform atTHE CRAZY COQS AT BRASSERIE ZEDEL (20 Sherwood St, Piccadilly, London W1F 7ED- 020 7734 4888) on Tuesday through Saturday, Jul y 8th through 12th at 8:00 pm. For over 30 years Mari Wilson has remained a much loved, respected artiste, delivering fans 'just what they always wanted': great records and fabulous shows. This week Mari takes her audience on an intimate musical journey, with a mix of classical and contemporary songs, from The Bee Gees and Bacharach to Chrissie Hynde and Gerry Marsden. Mari will also perform some of her own hits, old and new, and perform a selection of songs from her new show- 'Am I The Same Girl- Mari Sings Dusty.' Her unique storytelling and wit runs throughout, and of course there will be a few glamorous costume changes. In 2000, Mari was the obvious choice to play the legend Dusty Springfield on the hugely successful nationwide tour of Dusty The Musical and this year has seen Mari touring the UK with her sell-out concerts paying homage to Dusty Springfield with her unique interpretation of the classic hits along with some lesser known gems. LONDON: GENTLEMEN OF JAZZ WITH THEO JACKSON
Inspired by meeting and singing with the legendary Jon Hendricks, vocalist and pianist Theo Jackson presents a tribute to the great male jazz vocalists, from Nat King Cole and Mel Torme to Chet Baker and Jon Hendricks at THE CRAZY COQS AT BRASSERIE ZEDEL (20 Sherwood St, Piccadilly, London W1F 7ED - 020 7734 4888) on Saturday, July 12th at 10:30 pm as part of the club's Late Night Jazz series. Alongside well-loved songs such as Nature Boy and Just One Of Those Things, GENTLEMEN OF JAZZ features anecdotes about the songs, the people who wrote them and the performers who made them famous.
