NYC: AMANDA GREEN'S SPRING TRUNK SHOW

Songwriter Amanda Green and her friends, Jenn Colella (If/Then,Chaplin, High Fidelity), Kathleen Monteleone (Hards on a Hardbody, Legally Blonde), Ryann Redmond (If/Then, Bring It On) and Janet Krupin (If/Then, Hands on a Hardbody, Bring It On) will perform a hilarious and heartfelt evening of undiscovered 'trunk songs' cut from Green's Broadway shows High Fidelity, Hands On A Hardbody, and Bring It On at BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) on Monday, April 14th at 7:00 pm. Amanda Green is an award-winning Broadway composer-lyricist and performer. Last season, she was nominated for two Tony Awards for writing two different Broadway musicals: Bring It On, for which she co-wrote the lyrics, and Hands On A Hardbody, for which she wrote the lyrics and co-wrote the music, collaborating with Trey Anastasio. Also on Broadway, she wrote the lyrics for High Fidelity (music Tom Kitt; 2006). Tapped by the legendary Arthur Laurent, she wrote addtional lyrics for Hallelujah Baby! (Arena Stage,dir. by ArthurLaurents). She contributed two original songs to the new show Stars Of David (book Charles Busch)opening October 2012 at The Philadelphia Theater Company. As a performer she has won two MAC Awards and a Bistro Award, and performs her songs everywhere from Birdland to Carnegie Hall to the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville. She is the winner of The Jonathan Larson Award for Excellence in Songwriting, and Songwriter's Hall Of Fame Scholarship Award. There is a $25-$35 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.

NYC: JIM CARUSO'S "CAST PARTY" MONDAYS AT BIRDLANDFEATURED OPEN MIC EVENT

Every Monday night at 9:30 pm, Broadway impresario Jim Caruso hosts "Cast Party", a combination open-mic, networking event and party atBIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) during which the biggest stars on Broadway relax on their night off by performing their favorite songs in an informal setting. Cast Party is a mix of music, impromptu performance and cocktail party revelry, where showbiz superstars, stunning jazz talents and cabaret glitterati hit the stage alongside up-and-comers to serve up jaw-dropping music and general razzle-dazzle. It's the ultimate spot to mix and mingle with talented show folk and their fans. There is a $20 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.

NYC: BERKLEE GLOBAL JAZZ INSTITUTE AT THE BLUE NOTE

The Berklee Global Jazz Institute (BGJI). featuring Miguel Zenon on saxaphone performs at THE BLUE NOTE (131 West 3rd Street, NYC - 212-475-8592) on Monday, April 14th with shows at 8:00 & 10:30 pm. BGJI is a performance program designed to foster creativity and musicianship through various musical disciplines, with pianist and composer Danilo Perez as its artistic director. The BGJI provides a comprehensive contemporary music environment where students are given opportunities to explore their creativity to the highest level possible, advance the power of music as a tool for the betterment of society, and connect musical creative thinking with the natural environment. Others featured are Tommaso Gambini, guitar (Italy); Alex Gasser, bass (Puerto Rico); Takafumi Suenaga, piano (Japan); Michael Wang, trombone (USA); Jharis Yokley, drums (USA); and Mao Sone, trumpet (Japan). There is a $10-$15 cover.

NYC: MONDAY NIGHTS WITH WBGO: ADAM BIRNBAUM TRIO

The Adam Birnbaum Trio will perform as part of the MONDAY NIGHTS WITH WBGO series at DIZZY'S CLUB AT JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER (33 West 60th Street, NYC - 212-258-9595) on Monday, April 14th with shows at 7:30 & 9:30 pm. Since receiving a graduate Artist's Diploma from The Juilliard School in 2003, pianist Adam Birnbaum has established a steady presence in the New York City jazz scene, performing at world-renowned venues such as the Village Vanguard, Blue Note, Birdland, the Jazz Standard, and Dizzy's Club. Having toured as a unit for over five years and performed in countless clubs and festivals in New York and abroad with the Al Foster Quartet, Adam, Doug, and Al have a rare musical chemistry and a truly unique group sound that embraces the tradition as well as embodying the spirit of exploration and spontaneity.
