CHICAGO: JOHNNY MERCER: DREAM STARRING JEFF DEAN

Jeff Dean will bring back his acclaimed October 2013 show 'Johnny Mercer: Dream' to DAVENPORT'S (1383 North Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago, IL - 773-278-1830) on Sundays, April 6th & 13th at 8:00 pm. His musical director is Beckie Menzie. Lyricist - Composer - Singer: The ubiquitous Johnny Mercer was an absurdly talented, but enormously complex and dissatisfied man. Come ride this train through Mercerland as Jeff and Beckie explore Johnny's life, loves and music. There is a $15 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

SAN FRANCISCO: MEGAN HILTY AT FEINSTEIN'S AT THE NIKKO

Star of stage and screen, Megan Hilty, will perform atFEINSTEIN'S AT THE NIKKO (222 Mason Street, San Francisco, CA - 866-663-1063) on Saturday & Sunday, April 12th & 13th at 7:00 pm. From Broadway to TV, Hilty's extensive resume includes starring roles in Wicked, 9 to 5: The Musical, and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Megan Hilty recently starred alongside Sean Hayes in NBC's comedy "Sean Saves the World." Prior to that, she portrayed the seasoned triple-threat Ivy Lynn in NBC's musical drama "Smash" for two seasons. In March 2013, Hilty released her debut solo album, "It Happens All the Time," which included fresh interpretations of compositions by contemporary songwriters and producers. There is a $60-$75 cover plus a $20 food/drink minimum.

SAN FRANCISCO: CHIHIRO YAMANAKA TRIO AT YOSHI'S

Universal Music recording artist Chihiro Yamanaka will perform at YOSHI'S (1330 Fillmore Street, San Francisco, CA - 415-655-5600) on Sunday, April 13th at 7:00 pm. Yamanaka is one of the most exciting jazz pianists and composers of her generation, and the leader of the Chihiro Yamanaka Trio (Chihiro Yamanaka - piano, Yasushi Nakamura - bass, Mark Whitfield, Jr. - drums). Chihiro's music pivots between her strikingly original compositions and her unique arrangements in which she accomplishes the impressive feat of introducing the element of surprise into some of the most famous songs in the jazz repertoire, contemporary popular music, and even the works of classical composers. Chihiro takes this approach to yet another level with her Beatles tribute, the new CD Because (Universal/Decca), a groundbreaking disc that features some of the most creative reworkings of Beatles classics ever recorded. Along with the title track, "Because" (from Abbey Road), Chihiro transforms such great songs as "Yesterday" and "Michelle" into glittering vistas of her musical imagination. Chihiro's upcoming concert at Yoshi's San Francisco marks her 3rd appearance at the venue. Dinner/Show: $58 Show only: $23.
