BERNARD DOTSON RETURNS AFTER SOLD-OUT DEBUT
In an encore performance of his SOLD OUT solo debut, Broadway song and dance man Bernard Dotson returns to THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Wednesday, April 16th at 7:00 pm. He will be singing songs by great composers of Broadway, Film, and a few Surprises from the Pop World. Directed by Bob E. Gasper and under the musical direction of Tracy Stark, the show will feature David Silliman on Drums, Skip Ward on Bass, Peter Calo on Guitar, and Jeanne Montano and Tanya Holt on backup vocals. On Broadway, Bernard was featured in Finian's Rainbow, (First Gospeleer, Original Revival Cast), Chicago, (Billy Flynn), Imaginary Friends, (Leo, Original Cast), Sweet Smell Of Success, (Club Zanzibar Singer, Original Cast), Jesus Christ Superstar, (Original Revival Cast), and the Tony Award Musical Ragtime, (Original Cast). Concerts and recordings: She Loves Me, Boys Night Out, Celebration of the Rat Pack, New York Philharmonic, the music of Frank Loesser, Dreamgirls for the Actors Fund, (Recording), Broadway On 22nd Street, Encores Broadway Bash at City Center, and several cast recordings including the newly released Stephen Sondheim's Merrily We Roll Along. NYC: ERIKA SMITH WITH "MARILYN AND FRIENDS" AT THE MET

New York based Marilyn Monroe tribute star Erika Smith will be performing her show "Marilyn and Friends" atTHE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Wednesday, April 16th at 9:30 pm; Monday, May 19th at 9:30 pm; Thursday, June 26th at 7:00 pm; and Saturday, July 26th at 7:00 pm. "Marilyn and Friends" is a fun hour romp through the mind of one of the world's most famous icons of our time, Marilyn Monroe. Erika Smith sings the classic songs Marilyn is known for, as well as a few unexpected tunes, interacts and improvises with the audience. She invites other beloved "celebrities" to duet and dance with her. There are some serious and heartfelt moments, but mostly this fun show celebrates and pays loving tribute to the sexiness and artistry of the incomparable Miss Marilyn Monroe. Based in New York City, Erika has traveled the world bringing the songs, the laughs and the charisma of Marilyn back to life. She has entertained at countless private events, concerts, celebrity parties and corporate events and has portrayed Monroe in films, television and theater. NYC: PAT CANDARAS AT DON'T TELL MAMA

Stand-Up Comedy favorite Pat Candaras returns to DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) for one night only on Wednesday, April 16th at 7:00 pm. One of the funniest ladies in Stand-Up, this "wonder-grandma" will have you writing down the one-liners so you can tell your friends at work tomorrow. Not for the faint at heart - over 21 please. NYC: THE BEST IS YET TO COME - ENCORE! WITH RORY POTTRUCK

Comedy legend Joan Rivers returns with her her live stand-up act to THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) on Wednesday, April 16th at 8:00 pm. Rivers presents an evening of her newest and most outrageous riffs on Hollywood, pop culture, celebrities, reality TV and award show fashions. NYC: SIBLING REVELRY; LIZ & ANN HAMPTON CALLAWAY

The dynamic sisters Liz and Ann Hampton Callaway are teaming up together again to bring Sibling Revelry back to54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Tuesday through Thursday, April 15th through 17th at 7:00 pm and Friday & Saturday, April 18th & 19th at 8:00 pm. The award-winning show made its way back to New York for the first time in over 15 years for a sold out engagement last summer and received rave reviews. NYC: MARC KUDISCH & JEFFRY DENMAN AT 54 BELOW

Broadway stalwarts Marc Kudisch (three-time Tony Award nominee for 9 to 5, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and Thoroughly Modern Millie) and Jeffry Denman (White Christmas, The Producers) return to 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Wednesday, April 16th at 9:30 pm. The pair first teamed together for their successful off-Broadway holiday show The Holiday Guys, infusing traditional holiday standards with their unique folk/pop point of view. They now look to expand that style to standards-from Broadway to contemporary music and beyond. There is a $30-$40 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.

NYC: SCOTT SIEGEL'S BROADWAY BALLYHOO WEDNESDAYS

The Broadway Ballyhoo returns this Wednesday at THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) in an open-ended run that will play every Wednesday night at 10:30 pm. The Ballyhoo features a different musical revue, with new stars and different great show tunes, every single week! Scott Siegel hosts. Ian Herman is the Musical Director. NYC: THE LOUIS ARMSTRONG CENTENNIAL BAND

The Louis Armstrong Centennial Band aka David Ostwald's Gully Low Jazz Band performs at BIRDLAND(315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) on Wednesdays from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Inspired by the noble jazz pioneers Louis Armstrong, Bix Beiderbecke, Duke Ellington, Jelly Roll Morton and their colleagues, David Ostwald's Gully Low Jazz Band (also known as the Louis Armstrong Centennial Band) breathes life and passion into America's own great art form. Now in its 12th year of residency at Birdland, the weekly post-workday engagement is the city's best musical bargain! Tuba player David Ostwald leads a rotating lineup that features talents such as clarinetist Anat Cohen, trombonist/ vocalist Wycliffe Gordon, pianist Ehud Asherie, drummer Marion Felder and more! NYC: PAT MARTINO ORGAN TRIO AT BIRDLAND

The Pat Martino Organ Trio with Pat Bianchi (organ) Carmen Intorre Jr. (drums) will perform at BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) on Tuesday through Saturday, April 15th through 19th with shows at 8:30 & 11:00 pm. One of the greatest guitarists in jazz, Martino got his start on the "chitlin' circuit" in the 1960s with organ groups led by Richard "Groove" Holmes, Jack McDuff, Don Patterson, Trudy Pitts and Charles Earland. Having made a full and remarkable recovery from a life-threatening illness in the 1980's that caused him to forget how to play the guitar, Martino relearned by listening to his own early recordings and has re-emerged as a veteran presence on the jazz scene. Today Martino lives in his native Philadelphia and his playing is as fiery and technically brilliant as ever. There is a $40 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.

NYC: SAVION GLOVER AT THE BLUE NOTE

Famous tap dancer, choreographer, and actor Savion Glover will perform at THE BLUE NOTE (131 West 3rd Street, NYC - 212-475-8592) on Tuesday through Thursday, April 15th through 17th with shows at 8:00 & 10:30 pm. Glover is the epitome of a living legend. Born in 1973, the tapping marvel has graced the stage since childhood. He set a record as the youngest person ever to receive a scholarship in the Newark Community School of the Arts, and before he was a teenager, he made his mark starring in the leading role in the Broadway musical The Tap Dance Kid. Early in his career, Glover developed his own dancing style he dubbed "freestyle hard core." The Tony Award-winning dancer eventually worked with dancing greats Gregory Hines and Sammy Davis Jr. Among his credits are starring roles in shows like Jelly's Last Jam, a role for which he made history as the youngest ever recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts grant. As a choreographer, Glover's work has helped maintain tap dancing as an art form in the modern dance world. In 1996, he choreographed and debuted in the starring role in the Broadway musical Bring in 'da Noise, Bring in 'da Funk. The musical brought Glover a Tony for Best Choreographer. He later expanded his appeal to younger generations with recurring appearances on Sesame Street, and he holds the credits for the choreography and the live captured dancing motion behind Mumble the penguin in the Disney film Happy Feet (2006). There is a $30-$45 cover.

NYC: CLARENCE PENN: "MONK"- THE LOST FILES

Clarence Penn presents "Monk"- The Lost Files atDIZZY'S CLUB AT JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER (33 West 60th Street, NYC - 212-258-9595) on Wednesday, April 15th with shows at 7:30 & 9:30 pm. He is joined by Makoto Ozone, piano; Yasushi Nakamura, bass; and Chad Leftkowitz-Brown, saxophone. Clarence Penn is the leader of multiple bands, a composer, a prolific producer, and an educator. Since he arrived in New York City in 1991, Penn has become a fixture in the jazz capital, performing with a staggering array of A-list artists, including Ellis and Wynton Marsalis, Betty Carter, Stanley Clarke, Steps Ahead, and Makoto Ozone. His explorations in a broad spectrum of jazz expression have led to an impressive discography of several hundred studio albums, including the GRAMMY Award-winning 34th and Lex by Randy Brecker, as well as Concert in the Garden and Sky Blue by Maria Schneider. Get ready for an evening of explosive, yet nuanced jazz with Penn and his quartet in their performance of "Monk, the Lost Files," a fresh re-imagining of the music of Thelonious Monk. There is a $30 cover.
