NYC: "SORDID LIVES" BY DEL SHORES
3A Productions presents: "Sordid Lives" by Del Shores (*licensed by Samuel French, Inc.) at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438) on Tuesday, March 25th at 6:30 pm. The show is directed by Andrew Loren Resto. Del Shores' rollicking comedy of trailers, sinners, tuna fish casserole with Lays potato chips, fatal accidents in motel rooms while committing adultery, conversion therapy, and Jane Hathaway and the "precious precious memory" of Tammy Wynette. The 90 minute show features a 14 member cast: (in order of appearance), Mary Lou Barber*, Marc McBarron Kessler, Barbara Mundy*, Ronni Valentine*, JC Sullivan,Kathryne Langford, Lisa Faith Phillips, David Purves*, Bruce-Michael Gelbert, John Van Ness Philip* Tina Kobas, J. NYC: SAY SOMETHING: A CABARET BENEFIT FOR STEP UP WOMEN'S NETWORK
Internationally acclaimed actress and singer Joanna Carpenter will be making her New York City solo cabaret debut on Wednesday, March 26th at 9:00 pm at STAGE 72 (158 West 72nd Street, NYC - 212-362-2590). Featuring an assortment of new songs and timeless Broadway standards, along with fresh interpretations of pop hits, Joanna will be accompanied by musical director Yan Li with very special guests Phoebe Silva and Brian Detlefs. All door proceeds will go to STEPUP (http://www.suwn.org), a nonprofit membership organization propelling girls from under-resourced communities to fulfill their potential by empowering them to become confident, college-bound, career-focused, and ready to join the next generation of professional women. Joanna's recent theatrical credits include Sunfish (Aheh): World Premier directed by Will Pomerantz - Top Jury Honor, Daegu International Music Theatre Festival, South Korea; The Fantasticks (Luisa); From Under The Tree (Marina) with Kelly Bishop; Romeo and Juliet (Juliet), and Bat Boy: The Musical (Shelley). There is a $10 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
NYC: WHO IS MELANIE BROOK?
Melanie Brook will perform at 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Tuesday, March 25th at 7:00pm. The show is a magical journey as Melanie tries to figure out who she is through the art of song, interpretive dance, and a special guest appearance by her green recorder. You will not regret it. Melanie Brook was the winner of 54 BELOW'S "The Callback" competition as this show is her prize: a special one night engagement. Directed by Yvette Kojic and musical directed by Brandon Sturiale. There is a $25 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.

54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) presents BACKSTAGE, Broadway's Tuesday night cocktail party/songfest, hosted by Susie Mosher at 10:00 pm. Musical Director Brad Simmons keeps the house jumping from the piano, while host Mosher guides the crowd through an evening of music, mayhem and full throttle belting. Special guests from hit Broadway shows drop in to perform. Members of the "Backstage repertory company", featuring some of New York's most exciting musical theatre talent, are on hand each week to sing everything from Schwartz to Sondheim. NYC: DINE & DANCE WITH VINCE GIORDANO AND THE NIGHTHAWKS - NOW AT THE IGUANA
Vince Giordano & the Nighthawks are back - and now will play every Monday & Tuesday night from 8:00 to 11:00 pm at at IGUANA'S VIP LOUNGE (240 West 54th Street, NYC - 212-765-5454). Vince Giordano & the Nighthawks is an eleven-piece band playing music of the 1920s & 30s for your dining and dancing pleasure. In 1976 Vince Giordano & the Nighthawks (originally known as the New Orleans Nighthawks) was formed. A big-band historian and collector, Giordano has more than 60,000 scores in his collection. There is a $15 cover (at the door) plus a $15 food drink minimum.
NYC: BILL CHARLAP TRIO AT BIRDLAND
One of the world's premier jazz pianists, Bill Charlap, returns to BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) on Tuesday through Saturday, March 25th through 29th with shows at 8:30 & 11:00 pm. Charlap has performed and recorded with many leading artists of our time, ranging from jazz masters Phil Woods and Wynton Marsalis to singers Tony Bennett and Barbra Streisand. Since 1997, he has led the Bill Charlap Trio with bassist Peter Washington and drummer Kenny Washington, now recognized as one of the leading groups in jazz. Charlap is the artistic director of New York City's Jazz in July Festival at the 92nd Street Y, and he has produced concerts for Jazz at Lincoln Center, the JVC Jazz Festival and the Hollywood Bowl. A two-time Grammy nominee, Charlap is married to renowned jazz pianist Renee Rosnes, and the two often collaborate in a duo piano setting. In the spring of 2010, Charlap and Rosnes released "Double Portrait", their acclaimed duo piano recording on the Blue Note label. There is a $40 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.
NYC: DOUBLE FEATURE: LARRY CARLTON GROUP & KYLE EASTWOOD GROUP
Both the Larry Carlton Group and the Kyle Eastwood Group will appear in a "Double Feature" presentation at THE BLUE NOTE(131 West 3rd Street, NYC - 212-475-8592) on Tuesday through Sunday, March 26th through 30th with shows at 8:00 & 10:30 pm. Nineteen-time Grammy nominee, four-time Grammy winner and all-time guitar great, Larry Carlton established himself from his first recording, A Little Help From My Friends. His studio credits include musicians and groups like Steely Dan, Joni Mitchell, Michael Jackson, Sammy Davis Jr., Herb Alpert, Quincy Jones, Bobby Bland, Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt and literally dozens of others. He went on to perform with the Crusaders and then with the multi platinum jazz super group Fourplay. With 30 albums to his credit and having performed on over 100 albums that have gone Gold or Platinum, Larry Carlton has set a standard for artistry that spans three decades. As someone who has had a myriad of opportunities to shine, Kyle Eastwood has truly carved his own path as a musician and his bass playing and composing talents reflect the richness and diversity of his experience. No stranger to jazz music, at a young age his father, film actor/director Clint Eastwood introduced him to jazz stars such as Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Dave Brubeck, Thelonious Monk, and Miles Davis. Kyle began playing electric bass in high school, learning R&B, Motown, and reggae tunes by ear. After studying with French bassist Bunny Brunel, he engrossed himself in the New York and Los Angeles area jazz scene, and signed with Sony in 1998 where he released his debut recording From Here to There. Kyle has composed or arranged seven of Clint Eastwood's latest films including Mystic River. Million Dollar Baby, Flags Of Our Fathers, Letters from Iwo Jima, Gran Torino, and Invictus. There is a $20-$35 cover.
