NYC: ELAINE ST. GEORGE REPRISES TRIBUTE TO SONGWRITER STEVE GOODMAN

Steve Goodman, the Chicago-born folk music singer-songwriter whose promising career was cut short in 1984, is brought to life by 2013 MAC Hanson Award-winner Elaine St. George, in a loving tribute that began an extended run at DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) on Wednesday January 29th at 7:30 pm. Additional performances are scheduled for Wednesday, March 26th; and Wednesday April 30th all shows at 7:30 pm. She is accompanied by music director Ross Patterson on piano, Adam Armstrong on bass and Karen Waltuch on viola. Goodman is the composer of "City of New Orleans" (made famous by Arlo Guthrie and later by Willie Nelson); "Banana Republics" and "Woman Goin' Crazy on Caroline Street" (recorded by Jimmy Buffett). He also wrote numerous Chicago Cubs-inspired songs, including "Go, Cubs, Go" which is played after Cubs home wins. There is a $15 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: KAREN WYMAN RETURNS WITH PERFORMANCES IN MARCH AT THE MET

In her first major engagement in 25 years Karen Wyman continues her exciting and decisive return at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Wednesday March 26th at 7:00 pm. Her top-notch trio consists of music director John Oddo on piano, Jay Leonhart on bass, and Eddie Caccavale on drums. Dennis Deal is her stage director. The Bronx-born Wyman was just 16 when she astonished Dean Martin and his national television audience in 1969. In short order she made appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show, The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, and on shows hosted by Carol Burnett, Jim Nabors, Glen Campbell, Dick Cavett, David Frost, Merv Griffin and Mike Douglas. She performed in nightclubs and recorded two albums and several singles for Decca Records, and had another on the way. Then circumstances changed and in 1989 Wyman opted to start a family. Still possessed of a rocket-fueled voice, and, now with the life-wisdom she admits she lacked as a teenager, Wyman couldn't be more ready and willing. There is a $25 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
