TORONTO: BROADSWAY AT THE JAZZ BISTRO

Two award-winning Jazz singers, a Dora Award-nominated music director, and an array of music as wide as the smiles of their audience members' faces all combine to create: "BROADSWAY" which will perform at THE JAZZ BISTRO (251 Victoria Street, Toronto, ONT, CA - 416-363-5299) on Thursday through Saturday, March 27th through 29th at 9:00 pm. Heather Bambrick, Diane Leah, and Julie Michels are all very busy women, working in a number of projects and musical genres. It's this degree of exciting musical energy that brought them together, and helped them create a show that is eclectic, funny, and very, very musical. "Broadsway" was born when the ladies found themselves together on stage one night and discovered their mutual love of Broadway music. Julie and Heather (also host of "Wake Up - " on JAZZ.FM91) are both acclaimed jazz performers, and Diane is a Dora Mavor Moore Award nominated Music Director, pianist and arranger. Their combined experience brings together Broadway music, pop sensibility, the improvisation of Jazz, and their unique senses of humour. They truly are three broads, doing it their own way ... hence, "Broadsway". This project has been wowing audiences and winning fans since its inception just over a year ago. Performance highlights include their debut "Leading Ladies" concert, repeat shows at The Global Cabaret Festival, the COC Richard Bradshaw Amphitheatre series, the Thursday Night Jazz Party at the Home Smith Bar, and several corporate appearances. They are already scheduled for various theatre performances in the 2013/2014 season. There is a $20 cover.

TORONTO: JAZZ BISTRO YOUNG ARTIST SERIES: PATRICK HEWAN

Hewan is a rising star in the Toronto Jazz scene who's energetic virtuosic playing captivates and moves his audiences. He draws on the vast vocabulary of the legendary jazz pianists who came before him and adds his own spirit and passion to create a unique sound and style. Drawing heavily on influences such as: Chick Corea, Keith Jarrett, Hiromi Uehara, Oscar Peterson, and Phineas Newborn while studying under the tutelage of legendary pianists such as Mark Eisenman, Brian Dickesnon, Richard Whiteman, Robi Botos, and Hilario Duran it's no secret where Patrick developed his unique, high-octane style that still clearly adheres to the art forms tradition. Patrick began studying classical piano at the age of four and was later introduced to the saxophone where he developed a great love for jazz music. His education includes York University and Humber College and he is a recipient of the Berklee World Tour Scholarship for both sax and piano. There is no cover.
