NYC: TONY DESARE UPDATES THE G.A.S. AT 54 BELOW

Singer/pianist Tony DeSare will perform at 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Wednesday through Saturday, October 2nd & 3rd at 7:00 pm and 4th & 5th at 8:00 pm. Tony's brand new show celebrates the genius of writers who have expanded the Great American Songbook in recent times like Ray Charles, Billy Joel, Bob Dylan, Carole King and Michael MacDonald, as well as 'adopted' American songwriters like Paul McCartney, Elton John and Barry Gibb. Everyone knows the brilliance of the Great American Songbook - which has been performed for many years, and in many different ways. But that songbook has expanded beyond 1955 - and now is the time to celebrate other writers who have created iconic music in the past half century. As always, Tony will have some exciting new material of his own, and a few wonderful surprises to share with the audience. There is a $30-$45 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.

NYC: ANITA GILLETTE & PENNY FULLER AT 54 BELOW

Two beloved Tony-nominated Broadway actresses, Anita Gillette & Penny Fuller, join forces for a delectable evening of humorous reflection and harmonious song in Sin Twisters, at 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Wednesdays, October 2nd & 9th at 9:30 pm. Sin Twisters is a show with a devilish spoonerism of a title. On the streets of Manhattan and Los Angeles, these vibrant and savvy veterans of over two dozen Broadway productions, as well as countless films and television shows, are constantly being mistaken for each other, although one is at least three inches taller, and one is a blonde and the other, a redhead. Yet, during their respective careers, they have both tackled some of the same parts, including the plum role of Sally Bowles in the original Broadway production of Cabaret. Sin Twisters joyfully celebrates these similarities but also gives full voice to these two remarkable performers' differences as artists and as women. This show is a must for anyone who loves theater lore and cherishes the enduring bonds of friendship. There is a $35-$45 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.
