NYC: FRANCISCO MELA QUARTET AT DIZZY'S
The Francisco Mela Quartet with special guest Fred Hersch, piano; Melissa Aldana, saxophone; and Gerald Cannon, bass, will perform at DIZZY'S CLUB AT JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER (33 West 60th Street, NYC - 212-258-9595 ) on Monday, August 19th with shows at 7:30 & 9:30 pm. Francisco Mela is a favorite among jazz's elite instrumentalists, like his bandleaders Joe Lovano and McCoy Tyner, and he is known for a distinctive blend of modern jazz and traditional Cuban music. Mela has received awards for breaking boundaries in Latin jazz, and his live performances are notable for both musical sophistication and infectious charisma. Joined by special guest and five-time GRAMMY Award-nominee Fred Hersch, the Francisco Mela Quartet will bring some very adventurous musicians together for a unique and inspiring whole.
