CABARET TONIGHT IN TORONTO: ERNESTO CERVINI QUARTET FEATURING SAXOPHONIST JOEL FRAHM
The Ernesto Cervini Quartet will perform at THE JAZZ BISTRO (251 Victoria Street, Toronto, ONT, CA - 416-363-5299) on Thursday, Friday & Saturday, August 22nd, 23rd & 24th at 8:00 pm. In just a few years the Ernesto Cervini Quartet has earned a reputation as one of North America's most exciting modern jazz groups. Featuring drummer-leader Cervini, saxophonist Joel Frahm, pianist Adrean Farrugia, Ernesto will be performing music from his live album 'There' released in autumn 2011. Cervini is a graduate of the University of Toronto and the Manhattan School of Music and has played some of the hippest stages in North American from New York City's Birdland, Jazz Standard to Massey Hall and now the Jazz Bistro. Joel Frahm is one of the most admired saxophonists on the New York scene, first hear in Toronto at the Top O' The Senator with vocalist Jane Monheit. Bassist Adrean Farrugia blends subtle dynamism and hard-driving swing at the piano as a leader (he just finished a wonderful engagement at the Jazz Bistro with his own trio) and as a sideman with the likes of Matt Dusk, the Indo-Fusion band Tasa and with the Darcy Hepner Big Band. There is a $15-$20 cover.
