MATINEE CABARET IN L.A.: DUKE ELLINGTON TRIBUTE AT ARTHUR NEWMAN THEATER
On Sunday, August 18th at 2:00 pm, Angelo Divino and Arienne Battiste will bring the Los Angeles hit show "Lucky So And So" to THE ARTHUR NEWMAN THEATRE at the JOSLYN CENTER (73-750 Catalina Way, Palm Desert, CA - TKTS: 760-325-2731) as part of the on-going Sundays In Summer Series presented by Les Michaels. The tribute to the one and only Duke Ellington picks up where "Sophisticated Ladies" left off, intimately chronicling Duke's fascinating life based on his sister Ruth's insider's perspective. Each fun and poignant tale of Duke's life flows into the next perfectly paced song, creating a unique and fresh Ellington narrative with accompaniment by Musical Director Howlett Smith on piano. Song highlights include many of the most requested hits like "It Don't Mean A Thing", "Solitude", "Do Nothing Till You Hear From Me", "Don't Get Around Much Anymore", "Mood Indigo", "Satin Doll" and many more. There is a $10 (cash only) cover.
