TONIGHT NYC: HENDRIK MEURKENS AND GABRIEL ESPINOSA AT DIZZY'S - BROADCAST ON WBGO
WBGO is proud to partner once again with DIZZY'S CLUB AT JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER (33 West 60th Street, NYC - 212-258-9595 - ) on Monday Nights with WBGO. The series features talented new artists as well as groups from some of the area's great college jazz programs. Each performance is hosted by WBGO announcer Rhonda Hamilton and includes a Q&A session with musicians. On Monday, July 15th featured artists are Hendrik Meurkens, harmonica; Misha Tsiganov, piano; Alison Wedding, vocals; Adriano Santos, drums; Gabriel Espinosa, bass and vocals. Harmonica master Hendrik Meurkens is popularly considered the successor of Toots Thielemans, and his profound involvement in both jazz and Brazilian music has resulted in a unique and instantly recognizable version of Samba jazz. Meurkens will be joined by bassist and vocalist Gabriel Espinosa, co-creator of Celebrando, 2012's hit tribute to Brazilian music. They will be accompanied by the rest of Celebrando's top-notch recording band, and their upbeat fusion of jazz, Brazilian, and soaring vocals is sure to delight.
