NYC: ELIO VILLAFRANCA QUARTET WITH TERRELL STAFFORD AT THE IRIDIUM
Keystone Korner Nights/Todd Barkan Presents the Elio Villafranca Quartet with Terrell Stafford at IRIDIUM JAZZ CLUB (1650 Broadway, NYC - 212-582-2121) on Sunday, July 14th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Other members of the quartet are Gregg August, bass; Ulysses Owens, drums. Born in the Pinar del Reo province of Western Cuba, pianist and composer Elio Villafranca was classically trained in percussion and composition at the Instituto Superior de Arte in Havana, Cuba. Since his arrival in the U.S. in late 1995, he has been involved in jazz and Latin jazz scenes on both the East and West Coasts. Based in New York City, he is resident professor at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. Call for cover/minimum information.
