TODAY'S NYC CABARET PICK: ROSEMARY LOAR: WHEN HARRY MET THE DUKE
Rosemary Loar pays tribute to the music of Harold Arlen and Duke Ellington at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Thursday, July 18th at 7:00 pm. Rosemary Loar presents an encore of her critically acclaimed cabaret creation: a show that showcases the genius of songwriting legends, Harold Arlen and Duke Elliington. An inventive force in the cabaret world for over 30 years, last year Rosemary Loar was honored with the 2012 MAC Hanson Award for continuing excellence. She has sung at Birdland, The Iridium, The Metropolitan Room, The Laurie Beechman Theater, Don't Tell Mama, Town Hall (Cabaret Convention), Symphony Space, Upstairs at Sardi's, Hotel Pierre, in LA at the Gardenia and MBar, in Chicago at The Tambourine Room and most recently in Paulo's Munich. Ms. Loar has released two cabaret recordings: The Quando Swing and a live recording of her critically acclaimed show Sting, Stang, Stung! Swingjn' The Music Of Sting. Ms. Loar has four national tours and six Broadway credits to her name including CATS (Grizabella), Sunset Boulevard, and Once Upon A Mattress and most recently The Grinch Who Stole Christmas at Madison Square Garden. She was awarded a Phoebe Award for her portrayal of Ivy Rowe in Fair And Tender Ladies. Rosemary also created the role of Gladys Fritts in the off-Broadway musical, Radio Gals. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
