The 54 Below WBGO Jazz Series continues, featuring weekly Tuesday evening shows by jazz artists. Just around the corner from Swing Street, these seasoned jazz performers come to54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) to play and sing the night away in grand style. Whether you're a long time jazz buff or new to the genre, this series, sponsored by the country's premier jazz radio station, promises a truly classic only-in-New York experience. On Tuesday, July 9th, with performances at 7:00 & 9:00 pm, the featured artists are Roberta Gambarini & The George Coleman Quartet. The extraordinary Italian jazz vocalist Roberta Gambarini has just returned from an extensive Far East tour with her own band. Roberta regularly thrills audiences in the U.S., Europe, and Asia singing with the Dizzy Gillespie Jazz Orchestra or the Roy Hargrove Quintet. The legendary and powerful Memphis-born jazz saxophone virtuoso George Coleman gained his first international recognition as an outstanding member of the Miles Davis Quintet with Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter, and Tony Williams, and he has been making modern jazz history ever since as a bandleader and recording artist. Roberta Gambarini, Vocals; George Coleman, Tenor Saxophone; Mike Ledonne, Piano; Ray Drummond, Bass; and Joe Farnsworth, Drums. There is a $25-$35 cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum.
