NYC: THE BEN ALLISON GROUP AT DIZZY'S THROUGH SUNDAY
The Ben Allison Group (Ben Allison, bass; Peter Bernstein, guitar; Matt Wilson, drums; Ted Nash, saxophones) will appear at DIZZY'S CLUB AT JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER (33 West 60th Street, NYC - 212-258-9595) Thursday through Sunday, July 11th through 14th with shows at 7:30 & 9:30 pm. Bassist Ben Allison is an adventurous and versatile composer, comfortable in many instrumental groupings. Known for his inspired arrangements, inventive grooves, and hummable melodies, Allison draws from jazz, rock, folk, 20th century classical, and various world music traditions, blending them into an exciting and truly original whole. As both a leader and supporting artist, Allison has played and recorded with drummer Matt Wilson, saxophonist Ted Nash, and guitarist Peter Bernstein as fellow members of the Jazz Composers Collective. This will be the first outing by this particular quartet, so head to Dizzy's to experience a promising new collaboration by some of the most creative voices in jazz. Yhere is a $35-$45 cover (varies nightly).
