TODAY IN NYC: "WHISTLING AWAY THE DARK" WITH SHANA FARR AT FEINSTEIN'S
Shana Farr returns toFEINSTEIN'S at the Regency Hotel (540 Park Avenue, NYC - 212-339-4095) on Tuesday & Wednesday, August 10th & 11th at 8:30 pm to celebrate Julie Andrews, in her brand new show "Whistling Away The Dark," loosely based on Ms. Andrews' autobiography "Home." For this new show, Shana Farr gives new interpretations to some of the more well-known songs while also including a few lesser known numbers of special significance to Ms. Andrews' life and career. The new show includes songs by Rodgers & Hammerstein, Henry Mancini, Lerner & Loewe, Noel Coward, Arthur Schwartz and others, as well as the aria that made her an overnight star at the ripe, young age of 12. Guided by director Eric Michael Gillett and music director Fred Barton, Shana has created a show that catches the essence of Julie Andrews touching on points in her childhood that helped to make her the star she is today. The production will cover the importance of Ms. Andrews' early television appearances, the huge Broadway shows in which she starred, the guidance and support of her mentors at just the right moments in her career, and Julie's own thoughts on acting. There is a $24-$40 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.
