NYC: LESLIE UGGAMS: UPTOWN DOWNTOWN, AT THE CARLYLE
Tony Award winner Leslie Uggams began a three-week engagement at the THE CAFE CARLYLE (35 East 76th Street, NYC - 212-744-1600 ) on March 30th and her show, "Uptown Downtown" will play at this elegant boite Tuesdays through Saturdays through April 17th. Shows are at 8:45 pm with a late show on Saturdays at 10:45 pm.The acclaimed singer/ actress will be backed by a five-member band led by music director Don Rebic on piano: Aaron Heick (woodwinds), Steve Bargonetti (guitar), Ray Kidlay (bass) and Buddy Williams (drums). Songs in the show include "My Own Morning," "Summertime," "If He Walked Into My Life" and "Stormy Weather," and more.Uggams was most recently seen on Broadway opposite James Earl Jones in the Broadway revival of On Golden Pond. She won her Tony Award for her Broadway debut in Hallelujah, Baby!, and has also appeared on Broadway in Thoroughly Modern Millie, King Hedley II, Anything Goes, Jerry's Girls, Blues in the Night and Her First Roman. There is a $75 cover ($85 on Saturdays).
