NYC: GILLETTE REPRISES WIDESCREEN WITH NO-COVER PERFORMANCE
2010 MAC NOMINEE, award-winning vocalist and Broadway actor Eric Michael Gillett reprises his solo cabaret, WIDESCREEN-SONGS FROM & ABOUT THE MOVIES, at DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788 - ) on Thursday, April 15th at 6:00 pm. Gillett uses the silver screen for a jumping off point, borrowing songs written specifically for motion pictures ("Theme from Valley of the Dolls", "We May Never Love Like This Again", "Moon River") and combines them with music from theater ("As If We Never Said Good-bye", "I Can't Make This Movie") and contemporary pop ("Widescreen", "Errol Flynn", "Blood on the Moon") to explore the illusions of the movies and the fantasies, illusions, and lies that fill our lives. He is joined on stage by musical director Jeff Cubeta and guest vocalists. There is no cover, just a 2-drink minimum. Donations to benefit Singers Forum & MAC will be gratefully accepted.
