LONDON: SUE RICHARDSON TRIO AT CRAZY COQS

Sue Richardson, a rare female trumpet player and singer who composes and arranges her own material, will perform at THE CRAZY COQS AT BRASSERIE ZEDEL (20 Sherwood St, Piccadilly, London W1F 7ED - 020 7734 4888) on Tuesday through Saturday, November 18th through 22nd at 8:00 pm. She is joined by Neal Richardson - piano and George Trebar - double bass. Her show 'Too Cool - The Life And Music Of Chet Baker' features the beautiful music of Chet Baker from the smoky jazz clubs of 1950s West Coast cool. Chet's romantic music belied a tragic, heroin-fuelled existence and his intriguing story epitomises that of the classic jazz musician. Running alongside the music, Richardson tells Baker's turbulent life story, including his many faults and sometimes-tiresome behaviour. A jazz fan or not, the story is sparky and engaging. The Sue Richardson Trio performs as part of the EFG London Jazz Festival. Call for cover/minimum information.

LONDON: LATE NIGHT JAZZ WITH JAY RAYNER

The renowned restaurant critic, Masterchef judge and sometime jazz pianist Jay Rayner returns to THE CRAZY COQS AT BRASSERIE ZEDEL (20 Sherwood St, Piccadilly, London W1F 7ED - 020 7734 4888 - ) on Friday & Saturday, November 21st & 22nd at 10:30 pm as part of the club's Late Night Jazz series. He returns after a hugely popular debut here, with The Jay Rayner Quartet; Hungry Jazz - an ensemble of top flight musicians performing ninety minutes of tunes from the Great American food and drink songbook. There will be standards from the likes of Johnny Mercer, Harold Arlen, Blossom Dearie and Dave Frishberg, alongside anecdotes from his life being paid to eat out on somebody else's dime, and stories about growing up with a mother, Claire Rayner, who was a sex advice columnist. With the singer Pat Gordon Smith, bassist Robert Rickenberg and saxophonist Dave Lewis. Call for cover/minimum information.

LONDON: SALENA JONES AND HER SEXTET AT THE PHEASANTRY

Salena Jones and her Sextet will appear at THE PHEASANTRY (152-154 King's Road, London SW3 4UT - 08456 027 017 - ) on Friday & Saturday, November 21st & 22nd at 8:30 pm as part of the Efg London Jazz Festival Salena Jones has been described as one of the world's greatest jazz singers. The truth is that she is impossible to categorise. Whatever the material, Salena Jones brings to it her own highly distinctive interpretation. Here and there a hint of Sarah Vaughan and Carmen McCrae, but essentially she has developed a personal style which owes little to anyone. Call for cover/minimum information.
