WASHINGTON, DC: BOHEMIAN CAVERNS JAZZ ORCHESTRA 

The Bohemian Caverns Jazz Orchestra, a 17 piece big band co-founded by baritone saxophonist Brad Linde, trumpeter Joe Herrera and club owner Omrao Brown, performs on Mondays at BOHEMIAN CAVERNS (2001 Eleventh Street N.W., Washington, DC - 202-299-0800) at 8:00 pm. The BCJO presents a variety of music from big band literature and features some of the District's best musicians on Monday nights at the historic Bohemian Caverns. Music from Ellington, Basie,Strayhorn, Thad Jones, Oliver Nelson, Maria Schneider and originals by band members will embrace and challenge the tradition of big band repertoire. There is a $10 cover.

WASHINGTON, DC: PAULIEN AT BLUES ALLEY

Jazz vocalist Paulien returns to BLUES ALLEY (1073 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC - 202-337-4141 - ) on Monday, November 17th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm with an exclusively French program that transports listeners to Paris. For one night the club will feel like a Parisian cafe that features Paulien performing French songs that have become classics on both sides of the Atlantic. Paulien is accompanied by Matty Metcalfe on accordion, Chris Dammann on bass, and Rick Olivarez on guitar, along with Washington-based pianist Tony Nalker and drummer Tony Martucci. Well known for her recordings sung in French since the mid-1990s, Paulien hit the top ten in Europe and the Far East with her re-make of the classic song "Dominique", and her version also led the Japanese charts for six weeks in a row. Paulien's voice is deep, direct, and free from affectations. She is a sophisticated singer with a pure voice that will haunt you for a long time. There is a $20 cover.
