NYC: BARRET IS BACK ON RESTAURANT ROW

Chris Barrett returned to LA RIVISTA RISTORANTE (313 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-366-4603) where he will be at the piano Mondays through Wednesdays. There are two shows nightly, a dinner show at 8:00 and a supper show at 10:00 pm. Chris Barrett's performances are in the tradition of the great late-night boites of a fondly remembered era, when the likes of Hugh Shannon, Bobby Short, and Buddy Barnes manned the keyboard. NYC: JAZZ LEGEND ANNIE ROSS TUESDAYS THE METROPOLITAN ROOM

Jazz legend Annie Ross continues her unprecedented, record-breaking, multi-year run at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440), every Tuesday night at 9:30 pm. Ms. Ross has been an abundant contributor to the art of jazz for over 50 years. Born in the UK, she has been a permanent resident of the USA for many years and a US citizen since 2001. Annie Ross is one of the pioneers of vocalese and the composer of "Twisted", one of the most well known examples of that art, as well as "Farmers Market", "Jackie" and many others. A founding member of Lambert, Hendricks and Ross, considered the greatest jazz vocal ensemble of all time, her influence is present in all subsequent practitioners of vocalese. "Twisted" has been recorded by a host of vocalists, including some not normally associated with jazz, including Joni Mitchell and Bette Midler. There is a $25 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: MORA NEWMAN: EYDIE IN MY SOUL

Possibly the best voice of her generation, Eydie Gorme left an indelible mark on many singers, including Mora Newman. On Tuesday, September 16th at 7:00 pm atTHE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440), Mora takes her journey through a lifetime of musical influences ... all Eydie. Including many of Ms. Gorme's greatest hits and some lesser known gems. Directed by T. Oliver Reid with musical direction by Tedd Firth and accompanied by Steve Doyle on bass and Daniel Glass on drums. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: ANNA ANDERSON SINGS WITH THE COLLIN SHOOK TRIO

Anna Anderson will perform a casual evening of R&B, jazz and soul at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438)on Tuesday, September 16th at 9:30 pm. Anderson takes you on a mellow journey through some of her favorite songs with the Collin Shook Trio led by American jazz pianist, Collin Shook. There is a $15 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: RICHMOND SHEPARD PREMIERES "YOU WANT TO BE A WHAT?!?" AT DON'T TELL MAMA

Richmond Shepard, known variously as the first mime in America, America's foremost mime, and now the world's oldest active mime, will bring his show "You Want to Be a What?!?" to DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) on Tuesdays, September 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th, and October 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th all shows at 9:15 pm. Supported by Nicholas Wolfson on guitar and two back-up mimes - Carol Tandava Henning and Marcus Watson - Shepard does stand-up mime, and recounts strange stories about his colorful career! Written, directed and performed by Shepard, "You Want to Be a What?!?" (subtitled "A Memoir in Mime") combines vintage and modern mime idioms, adding music and back-up mimes and tossing in a lighted match! There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.


NYC: ISABEL ROSE DE RELEASE SHOW AT THE CUTTING ROOM

To celebrate her new album 'Trouble in Paradise' on its release date Isabel Rose will perform that evening in her hometown of New York City atCUTTING ROOM (44 East 32nd Street, NYC - 212-691-1900) on Tuesday, September 16th at 7:30 pm. Produced by legendary Bob Rock, and inspired by a time when America was aglow by Kennedy's Camelot by day, and lit by the lights of Rat Pack Vegas by night, Trouble in Paradise delivers thirteen tracks that are infectious, charming and completely refreshing. There is a $20-25 cover.

NYC: KATE TAYLOR AT 54 BELOW

Kate Taylor will perform at 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Tuesday, September 16th at 7:00 pm. Born in New England, raised in North Carolina, Kate shares her musical heritage with brothers James, Livingston, Hugh, and late brother Alex. Her style reflects the soul, gospel and rockabilly sounds of the south combined with the literate folk and pop that comprise the balance of her family's shared musical legacy. After signing her first recording contract with Atlantic/Cotillion under the tutelage of her manager, legendary producer Peter Asher, she went on to record with her producer/brother James Taylor and acclaimed Muscle Shoals producer Barry Beckett. There is a $30-$40 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.

NYC: NIKKI MACCALLUM MAKES 54 BELOW DEBUT

Nikki MacCallum brings her new show 'Familiar Things, a celebration of Kander & Ebb music' to 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Tuesday, September 16th at 9:30 pm. After receiving a MAC Award nomination for the sold out run of her one woman show, Matchmaker Matchmaker I'm Willing to Settle!, Nikki MacCallum is now making her 54 Below Debut. MacCallum will be joined on stage and at the piano by Musical Director and Arranger, Mark Hartman, who has played and Associate Conducted multiple Broadway shows including Avenue Q and Sondheim on Sondheim. With direction by Kelvin Moon Loh, Familiar Things takes us from familiar childhood memories that one day become familiar to the unfamiliar challenges of adulthood that one day become familiar. Throw in a middle school performance of "Mister Cellophane" and "Sara Lee" as an eleven o'clock (snack) number and you have Familiar Things. The piece began development at the Eugene O'Neill Cabaret conference this past summer, under the direction of John McDaniel. There is a $25-$35 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.

NYC: DINE & DANCE WITH VINCE GIORDANO AND THE NIGHTHAWKS - NOW AT THE IGUANA

Vince Giordano & the Nighthawks are back - and now will play every Monday & Tuesday night from 8:00 to 11:00 pm at at IGUANA'S VIP LOUNGE (240 West 54th Street, NYC - 212-765-5454). Vince Giordano & the Nighthawks is an eleven-piece band playing music of the 1920s & 30s for your dining and dancing pleasure. In 1976 Vince Giordano & the Nighthawks (originally known as the New Orleans Nighthawks) was formed. A big-band historian and collector, Giordano has more than 60,000 scores in his collection. There is a $15 cover (at the door) plus a $15 food drink minimum.
