The trio performs vintage "girl group" music and modern vocal jazz with swing, style, and superb musicality. Sue Halloran, Jeanne O'Connor and Holli Ross were all working as professional solo singers in New York when they were brought together to perform at a nostalgia-oriented concert. Since then the group has created a sophisticated repertoire that ranges from authentic re-creations of Boswell Sisters songs from the 1930s to adventurous original jazz vocal arrangements. The Pearls' charming show can move from Andrews Sisters to Sinatra, Basie, Brazilian, bebop, and pop. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: MELANIE KANN: SONGS FOR SQUARE PEGS

Melanie Kann brings her show 'Songs For Square Pegs' toTHE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440 - ) on Sunday, September 14th at 9:30 pm. From marathons to melodies to makin' mischeif, Melanie has never fit in. Join your favorite misfit as she takes us on her irreverent journey through songs, stories and good old fashioned juvenile humor. Melanie is one of a rare breed ... a true New York Native. Born and raised just outside of NYC, Melanie made her stage debut at the age of five as Gretl in her babysitter's high school production of The Sound Of Music. After learning some *choice* 4-letter words from the teenaged "nuns" she realized she was born for a life in showbiz. When she isn't singing a show tune, odds are she is either out running an inappropriate amount of miles in prep for her next marathon (she's run 13 of them) or leading one of her several weekly Weight Watchers groups in Manhattan. She happily leads this "triple life" with her piano man husband Jason Loffredo and fluff ball kitty Gandalf The White by her side. There is a $22.50 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
