LOS ANGELES, CA: KRITZERLAND: WE'VE ONLY JUST BEGUN: THE SONGS OF PAUL WILLIAMS !

Kritzerland Upstairs at Sterling's presents "We've Only Just Begun: The Songs of Paul Williams " on Sunday, July 5th at 7:00 pm at STERLING'S AT THE FEDERAL (5303 Lankershim Boulevard, North Hollywood, CA - 818-754-8700). As always, the cast includes some of the best voices in town, including Brittney Bertier, Hadley Miller, Joanne O'Brien, Sami Staitman, Jeffrey Christopher Todd, Robert Yacko, and Jaidyn Young with Music Director Shelly Markham. As with all live entertainment events, cast subject to change without notice. Special Guest is Gloria Loring, a singer, songwriter, and actor who is best known as "Liz Chandler" on Days Of Our Lives, the recording artist of the #1 hit song "Friends and Lovers," and as co-composer and singer of the TV theme for Facts Of Life. For the 59th Kritzerland show, for only the second time in their history, they will salute a pop songwriter who came to prominence in the late 1960s- the great Paul Williams. Like their first salute to pop writer Randy Newman, Paul Williams not only wrote hits for any number of great singers (The Carpenters, Three Dog Night, Helen Reddy and on and on), but like Randy Newman he also has had a prolific career writing for film, television, and the theater. From his breakout hit, "We've Only Just Begun" (originally written for a Crocker Bank commercial), Williams amassed an astonishing number of classics very quickly, including "Rainy Days and Mondays," "Just An Old-Fashioned Love Song," "Let Me Be the One," "I Won't Last a Day Without You," and "You and Me Against the World." Additionally, he wrote several film musicals, including Brian De Palma's Phantom of the Paradise, Alan Parker's Bugsy Malone, Jim Henson's The Muppet Movie (which produced one of his biggest hits, the Oscar-nominated song "The Rainbow Connection"), and the Barbra Streisand version of A Star is Born (for which he won the Oscar for "Evergreen"). He also penned songs for the films Cinderella Liberty (with John Williams), The Secret of NIMH (with Jerry Goldsmith), Agatha (with Johnny Mandel) and many others. Kritzerland is produced and hosted by Bruce Kimmel and co-produced by Adryan Russ. There is a $15 cover plus a $5 venue/security fee.
