NYC: SHEPLEY METCALF: GOING PLACES - AT THE MET
Shepley Metcalf and Ron Roy return to THE METROPOLITAN ROOM(34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Wednesday, June 3rd at 7:00 pm with a new show, GOING PLACES, a tour from Rhode Island to the Riviera, and beyond, via song. The duo will take you from London to New York to New Orleans, and from heartache to hilarity, with music by Joni Mitchell, Johnny Mercer, Stephen Sondheim, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Cole Porter, and other terrific songwriters. GOING PLACES explores travel in all its guises, and journeys by plane, by train, and by automobile. Metcalf and Roy presented "The Songs of Fran Landesman + Simon Wallace" at the Metropolitan Room in 2010. The show earned favorable reviews, and as did their album of these songs. In 2013 Shepley released "The Songs of Laura Nyro," an 8-song album recorded live at the Metropolitan Room with Janice Friedman on piano, Jim Whitney on bass, and Willard Dyson on drums. And last fall Metcalf and Roy celebrated their new album, "Don't Bother to Knock," little-known gems unearthed from the Great American Songbook, at (where else?) the Metropolitan Room. Roy is on the faculty at The Boston Conservatory and at The Tuscany Project, a vocal workshop held each summer in Italy. He and Metcalf met at The Tuscany Project (she was a student), and the Boston-based duo have performed together since 2008. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: ERIC COMSTOCK & BARBARA FASANO RETURN TO METROPOLITAN ROOM
The popular husband-and-wife pop-jazz duo Eric Comstock and Barbara Fasano return to THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) for a six-night major engagement on Tuesday & Thursday, June 2nd & 4th; Wednesday, June 3rd at 9:30 pm and Monday & Tuesday, June 8th & 9th at 7:00 pm. Their new show, "Shoulder Season," is a swinging summer cocktail of lazy days, blue skies, and exotic lands. Reflecting the duo's well-traveled view of the pop and jazz songbooks "Shoulder Season" (the phrase is borrowed from the travel industry to describe the off-peak times between high seasons) covers ample ground, everything from Sinatra to Strayhorn to Springsteen. A crackling combination of warmth, wit, swing and sensuality, this celebrated husband-and-wife team toasted their 10th wedding anniversary last August. Honored as vocalists, recording artists, and writers of their numerous performance pieces, they received an impressive three MAC Awards in one year, including Vocal Duo of the Year, Outstanding Female Vocalist and Record of the Year. Fasano's fourth CD, "Busy Being Free" drops this fall. Comstock, a 2015 Bistro Award winner, is the co-creator and star of the long-running Off-Broadway hit revue "Our Sinatra," and recently released his fourth CD, "bitter/sweet." Their many New York engagements include Carnegie Hall, The Appel Room and Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola at Jazz at Lincoln Center, Merkin Hall, Symphony Space, Feinstein's, The Carlyle, Birdland, Jazz at Kitano, and the 92nd Street Y's "Lyrics and Lyricists" series. Across the country, they headline at Caramoor; Cooperstown Music Festival; Arizona Jazz Festival; Guild Hall in East Hampton; Sheldon Concert Hall and Jazz at The Bistro in St. Louis; Fairmont Copley Plaza in Boston; Prince Music Theatre in Philadelphia, and The Colony Hotel in Palm Beach. They recently made their London debut at Crazy Coqs at Brasserie Z del. There is a $25 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: MAKE YOUR OWN FUN WITH MARY FOSTER CONKLIN AND AMY ENGELHARDT
Mary Foster Conklin and Amy Engelhardt, two of New York City's most unique cabaret artists, will appear at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE(61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438) to make their own fun on Wednesday, June 3rd at 7:00 pm. Sprung from different dimensions of New Jersey's underbelly and proud members of a mutual admiration society, these unique storytellers finally will make good their long-standing threat to perform an evening together. Joining them will be John DiPinto on piano and accordion. The evening will run the gamut from soulful solos to daring duos and maybe even a twisted trio or two. There could even be a uke number, who can say? Amy Engelhardt spent 14 years in a lot of rental cars as the sole female writer/arranger and vocalist in Grammy-nominated, genre-busting vocal "band without instruments" The Bobs. Her solo CD, Not Gonna Be Pretty was hailed as the "unlikely and intriguing marriage of Nellie McKay and Meat Loaf." An award winning songwriter, Amy's cheeky rock score for 'Bastard Jones' (developed with a NAMT grant, workshopped last fall and off-off-Bway in 2016) was a Top 10 Finalist for the Richard Rodgers Award, the Eugene O'Neill Theater Conference and the Alec Baldwin Fellowship (the strangest trifecta ever). Amy is also the creator and Artistic Producer of TUNE IN TIME, New York's "Olympics of Musical Theatre," running monthly at the York. She currently splits her time between Los Angeles and New York.
