Helpusadopt.org is a national non-profit 501(c)(3) financial assistance grant program providing qualified couples and individuals - regardless of race, ethnicity, marital status, gender, religion, sexual orientation, or disability - with grants of up to $15,000 towards their domestic, international, foster, or special needs adoption expenses. Adoption is expensive. Statistics say that an average adoption costs upwards of $30,000. The magnitude and uncertainty of these expenses is a significant obstacle standing in the way of permanent homes for the more than 150 million children around the globe who need parents. Through the generous contributions of donors, Helpusadopt.org is able to assist others in overcoming the financial obstacles they face when seeking to adopt. Helpusadopt.org's average grant is approximately $8,500 and since the organization's launch in 2007, Helpusadopt.org has helped to build 134 families by awarding over $1,000,000 in total adoption grants. NYC: JAZZ LEGEND ANNIE ROSS TUESDAYS THE METROPOLITAN ROOM

Ms. Ross has been an abundant contributor to the art of jazz for over 50 years. Born in the UK, she has been a permanent resident of the USA for many years and a US citizen since 2001. Annie Ross is one of the pioneers of vocalese and the composer of "Twisted", one of the most well known examples of that art, as well as "Farmers Market", "Jackie" and many others. A founding member of Lambert, Hendricks and Ross, considered the greatest jazz vocal ensemble of all time, her influence is present in all subsequent practitioners of vocalese. "Twisted" has been recorded by a host of vocalists, including some not normally associated with jazz, including Joni Mitchell and Bette Midler. There is a $25 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: RAISING THE BAR WITH CAROL BERNSTEIN - THE CHANGING FACE OF THE WORKPLACE

Carol Bernstein, Associate Professor of Psychiatry, NYU School of Medicine, presents "The Changing Face Of The Workplace" at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438) on Tuesday, June 2nd at 6:30 pm. There are currently four generations in the workplace in the US. While differences between generations have been in play for centuries, longer life spans and a healthier population in the western world have meant that those in their 20s are working alongside those in their 60s and 70s far more routinely than has been true in the past. In addition, the communication transformation brought about by the world-wide web, cell phones, iPads and other digital devices have radically altered not only views of leadership, authority and work-life balance, but how individuals relate to each other. This presentation will focus on characteristics of the different generations: the World War II generation (1925-1945), the Baby Boomers (1946-1964), Generation X (1965- 1981) and the Millennials (1982-2000) and the challenges their different approaches bring to the medical environment of the 21st century. Dr. Bernstein has written numerous articles and chapters on psychiatric education, has presented at more than 70 conferences and meetings and has been the recipient of a number of visiting professorships. Dr. Bernstein also hosts a weekly call-in show for consumers on Sirius Radio's Doctor Radio Channel which is sponsored by the NYU Langone Medical Center. There is no cover and no drink minimum for this event. Reservations must be made via http://www.rtbevent.com - not available from The Duplex.

NYC: THE STEELDRIVERS AT JOE'S PUB

JOE'S PUB at THE PUBLIC THEATRE (425 Lafayette Street, NYC - 212-967-7555) presents The SteelDrivers on Tuesday, June 2nd at 7:30 pm. Nashville, Tennessee is a nexus - a point where tradition and innovation intersect, where commerce collides with art. It may be the only town around where salaried songwriters and full-time session musicians are as common as accountants and schoolteachers. Music is the product, and the factories line the street, from the swank Music Row mini-high-rises to the low-slung Sylvan Park bungalows. And only Nashville could give birth to a band like the SteelDrivers: a group of seasoned veterans - each distinguished in his or her own right, each valued in the town's commercial community - who are seizing an opportunity to follow their hearts to their souls' reward. In doing so, they are braiding their bluegrass roots with new threads of their own design, bringing together country, soul, and other contemporary influences to create an unapologetic hybrid that is old as the hills but fresh as the morning dew. This is new music with the old feeling. There is a $20 cover.

NYC: EXPLORING JEWISH MUSIC WITH ZION80

Zion80 explores Jewish music - from Shlomo Carlebach to John Zorn and everything in between - through the lens of the Afrobeat funk master Fela Anikulapo Kuti at JOE'S PUB at THE PUBLIC THEATRE(425 Lafayette Street, NYC - 212-967-7555) on Tuesdays June 2nd & 9th at 9:30 pm. Led by Jon Madof (Rashanim, Matisyahu), the 11-piece band arranges Jewish melodies using the polyrhythmic intensity of Afrobeat, blended with the madness of the Downtown scene. Madof's most ambitious project to date, Zion80 is blazing hot and tight as a drum. Spiritual, grooving and endlessly exciting, this is essential Jewish music for the 21st century. There is a $14 cover.

NYC: MICHAEL GARIN AND THE HABIBI KINGS AT CAFE NOCTAMBULO

Michael Garin and The Habibi Kings will perform at CAFE NOCTAMBULO AT PANGEA (178 Second Avenue, NYC - 212-995-0900) on Tuesdays, June 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd & 30th with sets from 9:00 pm. Michael has joined forces with Samir Shukry and Ossama Farouk in bringing this music to a wider audience as well as to add acoustic piano to the traditional sound and bring it to a new audience. With the Habibi Kings, he will have a chance to bring the Great Middle Eastern Songbook to the practitioners of the Great American Songbook. The music is sexy, danceable and pure fun. There is a $20 cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum.
