PALM SPRINGS, CA: FOR BETTER, OR WORSE WITH RACHEL & MATTHEW TYLER
Real-life husband and wife Broadway performers, Rachel Tyler and Matthew Tyler, will bring their cabaret concert "For Better, Or Worse" to THE ARTHUR NEWMAN THEATRE at the JOSLYN CENTER (73-750 Catalina Way, Palm Desert, CA - TKTS: 760-325-2731) on Sunday, August 31st at 2:00 pm as part of Les Michaels' Life Is A Cabaret Sundays In Summer Series. The show will feature songs and duets from a variety of genres with local musical director Joel Baker accompanying then on piano. A good percentage of "For Better, Or Worse" song material will be plucked from Broadway musicals, perhaps some from the long list of productions the couple has performed in, both alone and together, here in the USA and in the West End in London. They're combined credits are extensive and include: Miss Saigon; Mamma Mia; & Phantom Of The Opera, to name just a few. The amount of musical material available is endless and covers every angle and will undoubtedly hit a note with everyone in the audience. There is an $11 cash cover.

Her first solo concert in Los Angeles in 6 years, Julie will be looking back at her eclectic career and how sometimes dreams are dashed and sometimes they just might come true! SAN FRANCISCO: JOHN HANDY AT YOSHI'S
Saxophonist John Handy will perform atYOSHI'S (1330 Fillmore Street, San Francisco, CA - 415-655-5600) on Sunday, August 31st at 7:00 pm. John Handy has written a number of highly acclaimed, original compositions. "Spanish Lady" and "If Only We Knew both earned Grammy nominations for performance and composition. The popular jazz/blues/funk vocal crossover hit, "Hard Work", brought him fame in another realm; while "Blues for Louis Jordan" displayed his talents in rhythm and blues. He has written many compositions of various sizes for both instrumental and vocal groups. His more extensive works include "Concerto for Jazz Soloist and Orchestra" which was premiered by the Parnassus Symphony Orchestra; and "Scheme Number One" which was lauded as a fine example of fixed and improvised music by the great composer, Igor Stravinsky.
